Great storage solution - no more cluttered DVD storage
Lauren R.✓ Verified Purchase•September 21, 2023
This was the perfect storage solution for me. I live in a relatively small one-bedroom apartment and although I'm an avid movie fan, I just couldn't justify using up so much space to store my movies. I started looking around at different options, but I was fairly picky. I didn't want to keep my movies in a binder because I wanted to keep the cover art. I also considered the DiscSox DVD Pro Sleeves (available on Amazon and also at The Container Store), but after seeing them in person, I didn't like the way they looked and felt. They seemed more cheaply made to me, and I didn't like the black border that ran along the side saying "DiscSox"... I didn't want to have advertising on the product.
These have two sleeves - an outer sleeve that holds the art work and an inner sleeve that holds two discs. One thing that stood out to me about this product was the fact that the plastic sleeves are enforced around the edges. One of the other options I considered did not have this and people said it tore easily. These are great -- seem very sturdy. The disc pockets are a bit tight, but you just have to push a little and they go in just fine. I'm ok with this, because I figure it will keep the discs in place. The only con to the packaging is that the little insert to close up the sleeve doesn't really stay in place. I don't think this is a big deal though, because I keep them all pressed together in a bin anyway and they still look like they are closed.
As you can see in the picture, I had a storage tower that was filled up on both sides. I was able to take all of these movies and fit them comfortably with room to spare in the storage bin pictured. I was a little hesitant at first to throw away the boxes and crease the artwork, but once I got started, I really enjoyed being able to save so much space. The movies still look great in the sleeves; they just take up a whole lot less room now! Another bonus is I can easily take them with me places now since they're so lightweight and portable.
One con is that I don't really like the way these sleeves fit with Blu-rays. On one hand, since Blu-ray covers are narrower, you can fit the entire edge of the artwork into the sleeves without folding right in the middle of the paper (which you have to do with the DVDs). However, I don't like the fact that with a Blu-ray, there's quite a bit of empty sleeve up above where the cover insert ends. I wish Atlantic would make another version of these same sleeves so that they would fit snugly around Blu-rays.
I would definitely recommend these sleeves!

I've always been a purist in regards to DVDs...everything kept in the case and all the pieces and parts just like it came off the shelf in the store. That level of OCD has served me well in other areas of life...lol. That was great until I really started decorating my new home and realized that I just didn't want to look at a shelf stuffed with crazy multi-colored plastic cases or have a cabinet stuffed with them either. Actually, since I had moved in DVDs, etc. had been banished to plastic bins in the garage. That was less than ideal, but they're just so unsightly and take up so much room. As I ordered these movie sleeves, the DVD purist in me was howling "Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!". I didn't listen and I'm so HAPPY!! I stripped one plastic case of its cover and DVDs, put everything in the sleeve, and looked admiringly at its slim, tidy profile. The DVD purist was silenced for good that day and just to be sure I had enough I ordered 2 more sets!! They feel very sturdy, but aren't super heavy duty plastic like the original cases. They might not be ideal for the movies of small kids if you have those...these are easier to get into and I'm not sure they were designed to take the level of abuse that the average toddler can dish out. For me, they are perfect though. The contents of 6 DVD cases + 1 bluray case was taken down to less than the thickness of 2 DVD cases. I just folded the front cover from the DVD case evenly...I didn't cut them... and kept any of the insert stuff I wanted. Put that in the main sleeve and the discs in the removable sleeve that's inside and made to hold them. Easy, easy!! I did decide that since each sleeve will only hold 2 discs (though I did stuff in 3 a couple of times) that I would keep anything with many discs, like whole seasons of shows, in their original boxes rather than splitting them up into several sleeves. Not sure what I will end up storing them in yet, but I love the look and especially all of the space I'm saving.
WE LOVE IT!

I originally ordered 2, & ordered a 3rd when I couldn't fit all our movies. I JUST ordered 1 more to fit the rest of our DVDs that were in a CD case! I only wish we kept the sleeves for those that we had in the CD case before we knew about these DVD Sleeves!
BEFORE PURCHASING:
-Check the dimensions to see if it will fit in/on your shelf or wherever you plan to put it! [A lot of tv/media consoles have drawers or really low shelf heights that are meant to store DVD cases sideways, in which case these bins would not fit!]
PROS:
-Your movies will take up WAY LESS SPACE than in original case, so it serves its purpose!!!
-Great way to organize/alphabetize your movies!!!
-You can keep your DVD/Movie sleeves!
-The bins have a handle for ease of pulling out from shelf
-The bins have a place for a label so you know what movies are in which bin [I separate ours by type, so one bin contains family/kid movies in alphabetical order; another would hold only action movies in alphabetical order, etc]
-I have even managed to fit movies in a sleeve with the thicker Cardboard Movie Sleeves [thicker than the regular glossy paper ones most movies come with] for special edition DVDs and such.
CONS:
-It may have a really strong smell when you first open it, but you can just leave it out before putting away to air the smell away
-The sleeves are plastic, so the movies aren't as protected as they are in the original plastic case [Not a big deal unless you are really reckless with your things or like to put them on the floor...?]
-It's not lidded, so if you keep it stored on a shelf not shut away in a cabinet or drawer, it can collect dust on the sleeves & inside the bin
IDEAS FOR USE:
-I like to put TV Show seasons in one sleeve if I can. For example: Say we have Season 1 of a TV Show that has 4 DVDs total, I take the inner sleeve that holds the actual DVDs from another sleeve & put all 4 discs in one main/outer sleeve. I use the remaining outer sleeve that has no inner sleeve that holds a disc for a movie that only has 1 disc & simply slip the DVD in between it's movie sleeve. I don't know if that was confusing, I'll try to post a photo... Lol.
-If you have a DVD Case, the binder kind that holds the DVDs AND the movie sleeves, you can use those in these bins too! I cut out the sleeves from the binder case & used them instead of buying the refill pack. If you don't mind having mismatched sleeves, you can save money if you have it at home already! Just an idea =)
I would like if...
-It came in other colors! Like white/beige! [But I can always paint it...]
-It came with a lid so if your media shelves aren't closed in a cabinet, the sleeves & inside of the bin don't get dusty!
I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THESE
-if you would like to have more space for more movies or to take up less space for the movies you have, while keeping the movie sleeves!
-if you like to organize your movies, keeping them in alphabetical order in these bins is a lot easier than having them in the thicker original cases!
-you have a lot of movies to store/organize
-have minimal space such as a studio, apartment, condo, small room, etc.

Seem to be good so far

Needed these to store our DVD collection after a fire which damaged all the plastic cases of the DVD collection. So far, they seem to be easy to use and store the DVDs well. Would be nice if the set included 3-4 doubles for the DVD Sets.
Fantastic!

Problem: I have too many DVDs. Way, way, way, waaaaaay too many DVDs. Do I need them all? No. Do I watch them all? No. Can I pass a five dollar DVD bin without scooping up some diamond in the rough at the bottom of the bin I'm sure is going to be the final glistening gem in my diadem if cult nonsense cinema?
No.
When I started finding DVDs in my kitchen cabinets (no, not really. Well, maybe.) I decided something had to be done to overcome the spontaneous explosion of bad movies that had left half my home a grind house ruin. I couldn't bear to part with the cover art -- I NEED to see Rutgar Hauer's hobo with his shotgun if I'm ever going to think watching it again is a good idea. So this excluded binders and cubes and the nifty DJ cases and everything else.
But these? These are glorious. They're an epiphany.
I was disappointed at first that they did require a crease in the art, but after putting my first DVD together, I decided I wasn't that OCD. They're just that awesome. Also, I don't know why, but I thought they flipped open, like a lightweight plastic DVD case or something. They don't.
These are really just media envelopes, with space for two DVDs (for special features) in each envelope (but, as another reviewer pointed out, it's absolutely possible to fit two different DVDs with two separate art covers into one envelope; however it's not particularly conducive to flip-through organization, obviously).
I hate the price, but that's neither here nor there since I'm paying it. Linticular box sleeves some DVDs come with either need to be cut down to fit, discarded completely, or just left in their original boxes, because with all the space your standard DVDs are going to have, you can afford a little whimsy in keeping box sets/special editions as they ought to be. Snap cases (the cheap cardboard ones) don't work at all, and will need to be sliced into submission with an x-acto knife, but it's a small sacrifice.
Because these? These are awesome. (Did I say that already?) You'll find yourself wondering how you lived so many years without space in all those bookshelves and tabletops and kitchen cabinets, your house will seem larger, your life will be easier, and you won't feel so guilty the next time you find yourself bringing home a copy if The Bowery Boys Meet the Ghoul.
