I'm thrilled with this toybox!! It's EXACTLY what I wanted! For the price, I'm extremely impressed!! It's heavy and very sturdy! I could barely lift the box it was delivered in. My husband thinks it's definitely real wood. It was delivered in mint condition. No defects at all. The natural wood color is perfect! My husband built it with ease! He was SUPER impressed with the ligit hardware that it came with! He said the hydraulic arms were something he would've bought. He was also impressed with the extra hardware. And I rarely see him build something without complaining lol! This is the perfect size! Very big and roomy!! The lid doesn't slam and shuts sooo nicely! My son loves his new toybox! We all do! I bought this for my daughter for Christmas, to hold all of the dress up clothes that we got her (also for Christmas!) It didn't take my husband long to put together and it looks really nice and seems well-made. There were some scratches upon putting it together but they could be worse. It's nice that it has shocks to absorb the lid as it clothes. We have a KidKraft Espresso kitchen and table so this is a nice addition - the color is consistent. I'd highly recommend.

So I just got this last night and got it put together in about 2 non consecutive hours. First, don't even bother trying to put it together if you have toddlers that are awake. I have twins, one stole my screwdriver and the directions and the other kept sitting on the pieces and tried to eat one of the bolts. Second, it was very easy to put together! Husband is deployed so I have to do all the Christmas construction on my own. The directions are simple, there aren't too many pieces to keep up with- easy peasy. It's beautiful when done but mine did come with some small damage (pictured), hence the four stars. Overall I'm pleased with it and glad to be rid of our toy box that has buckets because my kids just take them all out and throw them every which way. Hope this helps!

We had ordered a very similar toy box from Babies R Us and it arrived damaged - the metal hinges were broken. We contacted the store, who told us we had to contact the toy box manufacturer. They sent us replacement hinges that were the wrong size. We ended up returning the toy box and ordering this one instead. We should have just got this one first! It was SUPER easy to put together. The slow-close hinges are great because I don't have to worry about my son pinching his fingers. We also got a KidKraft cushion that fits on top and it looks great in his room!

After a LOT of online research and browsing, I bought this as a birthday gift for our one-year-old granddaughter. While she can't give me feedback of her own, her mama sure loves the toy box. The toybox was shipped to their house, and my daughter assembled. It arrived in great shape, is very sturdy, and she likes it well enough to have it in their living room, instead of tucked away upstairs. It's a nice size for a toddler, and the lid stays up as it's designed to do. I'll probably buy another one for them, so they can have one upstairs, as well.
