After all the glowing reviews and someone who prefers to buy quality tools, I was anticipating having this trencher for years to come. Well, on the VERY FIRST time using this trencher, the blade bent - a lot. Just below the connection from the neck to the blade bent backwards when digging in hard soil. What a waste of $$ Now I'm on the search for another trencher and out my $35

Let me say this is a great trenching shovel. (It is the right width for me and that is just the same width as the blade on my trencher machine). It is made by smart people that understand tools and how they are to be used. From the fiberglass handle to the metal blade, it is strong. The blade is bent in a 'V' shape that allows dirt to be scooped out in quantities I am not used to. I am a landscaper and appreciate a great tool that practically does the work for you. This shovel trenches well, as it lifts soil out effectively, and it seems capable of prying small rocks unlike ones that usually break really easily.

It is made of heavy gauge metal and the handle is a nice fiberglass. Mine did break at the weld line. I was using it to plant seedlings, putting it in the ground and rocking it back and forth. I don't think that is what it is really designed for. Customer service was excellent and gave me a replacement with any difficulty - re the 5 star rating - which is appropriate I believe if use for digging a trench as is the name implies.
