The lid stop opening just a month over a year of owning this. Changed batteries and tried a reset with no noticeable results. I would stay away from this one.

Wish I could say I had a great experience. The full sized trash can ate batteries. Didn't matter what brand. I think we averaged replacing them 1x a month. It might be because the trash can never opened when you needed it to and almost always when it wasn't suppose to. For example completely quiet in the house watching a movie it would open and close several times until I turned it off/on. Fun if you wanted to scare guests. Also at some point soon after we purchased during one of those "poltergeist" episodes it actually broke something were it no longer held the lid securely so it would randomly fly off. It was a great discussion point during thanksgiving dinner when the thing went nuts. We had to turn it off and pull the lid. I actually put it on the curb for trash pickup and some poor soul grabbed it before the trash man could. Good luck! The small one works but I never did understand how the bags going in it the right way. It works.
Lasted less than a year

The larger can lasted less than a year. I switched out the batteries multiple times, but it just stopped opening. I had to open it manually, which defeats the purpose of having a touchless trash can. The opening was also a bit awkward and several items had to be broken down in order to throw them away (like take-out containers). It started dying after only a few months. I kept replacing the batteries. It also started opening and closing randomly. It functioned fully without issues for about 3-4 months. The smaller trash can still works. It's been going strong for almost 4 years now. If you are buying it for the larger can (which was my reason for the purchase), don't waste your money! But, if you need a smaller one, buy it separately. It is worth it. I use it in my bathroom.
Motor WILL fail on you

As some people mentioned the opening mechanism for the lid fails after a few months. I had replaced the first set with a new one thinking I was unlucky with the first one but the 2nd one failed after a few months as well. They have a short warranty and both failed out of warranty. Even if it fails during the warranty period you still have to pay to ship the defective product back. By design the battery compartment and switch are inside the can which makes it very inconvenient to change them but also prone to failure when moisture gets in. So DO NOT BUY

Things that I don't like:
1.) The switch on/off is inside the trash -- disgusting when you need to turn it off.
2.) The battery box is again inside the trash -- disgusting when you need to replace the battery.
3.) Moisture gets into the battery box and corrodes the coils in there and the trash stops working, so needs to be cleaned to work again -- disgusting!
I do not understand they can't put the battery box and switch on its side where it is easy to access.
I am fed up, I am replacing this!
