Key features

  • EASILY LOWER YOUR CARBON FOOTPRINT. Recycling would-be food waste into compost is a clear action you can take for a healthier planet. With both a 5-gallon compost container and Bokashi compost starter, our simple kit is ready-to-use and all you need to start composting in your kitchen or even on your countertop: no assembly required.
  • COMPOST ANYTHING INDOORS. Unlike other kitchen countertop compost bins, the All Seasons Indoor Composter is more than a container to collect food scraps: you can compost directly in our kitchen compost bucket using the microbial power of All Seasons Bokashi to ferment your food waste after every meal or snack. It's easy to recycle any kind of food - even small bones, meat, dairy, and oily foods.
  • REDUCE YOUR TRIPS TO THE OUTDOOR COMPOSTER. Trudging out to your outdoor compost bin after every meal in the dead of winter isn't fun - plus decomposition slows down naturally outside in freezing cold weather so there's no guarantee you'll have compost ready for spring planting. By fermenting your food scraps inside using our compost container, you stay warm, save time and energy, and speed up your composting process. It truly makes it easy to compost.

  • NURTURE YOUR PLANT BABIES WITH EASY-TO-ACCESS COMPOST TEA. Compost tea is a powerful plant fertilizer, but making it outdoors is a messy, time-intensive process. Our compost bin's design features a built-in spigot that makes accessing nutrient-rich compost tea quick and easy. Simply drain, dilute, and use to nurture your house plants. Plus bokashi composting loses fewer nutrients than traditional composting methods, making both your compost and compost tea an even richer source of garden gold.

Great system
EarthlistenerDecember 3, 2017
Very good bokashi bucket system. I've used this all summer/fall and it has worked well. I'm a HUGE advocate for bokashi (fermentation method) composting, to the point that I teach classes on what bokashi is and it's benefits. In my classes I note that manufactured bokashi buckets are a bit pricey, so I recommend DIY systems if you don't have the funds for such a system. However, SCD Probiotics offers wonderful inoculated bran and EM, which for the beginner (or the experienced) makes the system really easy to use. Start a movement locally and start creating bokashi and amending your soil with it. The soil will love you for it and reward you with produce far above your expectations. Least way, today is December 5th and my zuccini and tomato plants are still producing... yes, I have to protect them at night with plastic covering but it's still producing the sweetest tasting zuccini around; all the local farmers agree and several have started the bokashi system for their own garden.
Although I purchased this SCD system at a price I have not seen since, I hope that this company or other companies will realize that it is to their advantage to offer the system at a reduced cost. Making it affordable and getting small and large gardeners alike to recycle kitchen wastes in such a way that adds microorganisms back into the soil which creates more nutrient rich food, which is what it's all about.
This is a great system but not a perfect system

This is a great system but not a perfect system. You need to use almost a full bag of the probiotics for every bucket you fill but it's hard to find the bokashi bags by them selves for a reasonable price. Also, the tap has clogged making it hard to drain. Otherwise, I'm happy with the bin. It's air tight so the kitchen doesn't smell, the compost remains dry, the bin can fit in a cabinet easily and is discrete. I wouldn't call it ready to use compost after two weeks but it definitely speeds up the process. I still feed it to my worms after a few weeks but the product is rich and the plants are happy.
Great for composting - Bokashi is a great litter additive too

It works. You can put *everything* in it. It constantly produce a very easy to use, "ready-made" liquid fertilizer. It keeps the mold out of your compost (too much mold is not good to have around, for plants or people). I've had compost turn incredibly toxic with mold, whereas this is a controlled fermentation - I almost think of my bokashi bucket as a "pet" and look forward to feeding it. It doesn't really smell bad (kind of a sweet pickle smell, if all is going well). You can keep it inside or outside (I would advise a cool, shady spot if outside). Here's something to consider: you can make both the special "draining bucket" and the bokashi probiotic mix yourself. (Look it up online for tutorials, if you would like to save some money.) However, if you need a quick compost solution, you can just buy this kit, or better yet *two*, so that when one fills up and needs 2 weeks to sit and "finish," you can leave it alone and use the other one. It's just a brilliantly simple and easy composting solution. I actually have space for a "real" composting operation, but I prefer this.

An extra and unexpected bonus found in the instructions: you can add this to your cat litter. I was pretty skeptical, because I live in a very damp/humid climate that tends to encourage litter odors, but it really did help. Huge difference.

* * * Edit 04/22/16: Just wanted to add that I still find this solution to be a very good and easy one. Plants seem to love the stuff. You DO have to follow all instructions to the letter to get the best results (don't mix already rotting food into your bokashi, stir and layer well, press down and cover with paper plate or a piece of cardboard). I have had a couple batches go "bad" on me because I tried composting already rotten scraps. Otherwise it works like a charm. Compost can be a very nasty business. I've worked with compost that made me dizzy and made my eyes sting. Bokashi, done right, comes out smelling slightly sweet, or bit vinegary. It really makes it a pleasure to work with, especially if you have allergies or are sensitive to strong odors.
Smells like pickles....sort of.

This takes some getting used to as it is a bit different from just throwing your kitchen scraps into an outdoor compost pile every few days. I do LOVE that I am able to put ALL my kitchen scraps into this compost bucket; including meat, bones, citrus....all things that don't go well in a regular compost bin. I keep the bucket in my garage and still have another (much smaller) tin bucket on my kitchen counter to collect the daily debris. It has taken me well over a month to fill up the bokashi bucket. Soon I'll be able to dump the product into my outdoor compost bin and mix it up with all those fall leaves. I've been getting compost "tea" right along which I either add to water for my plants or flush down the toilet to help with my septic system. It is nice to know that I am keeping this stuff out of the landfill and putting it to good use.
Works great!

I just buried my first batch, 5 weeks after starting. So far everything went very well. Like some others I did received a lid that was slightly bend, but I didn't had too many problems because of it. It still fermented well. The only drawback was that I started to get a few gnat eggs. They were on the top of the bucket and I just wiped them off with a paper towel. Now I use a weight on the lid. I love how convenient this is. I have it in the kitchen and there is no smell, except when you open the lid. I cannot say how good the compost works for my garden, not yet, but my plants love the liquid. I used it on my container plants and they grew better than ever and even my orchids ( tI can't keep them alive) are multiplying. They really seem to love it. I'm so excited, just for this I would keep composting with the Bokashi.
I used about half of the Bokashi Compost Starter. I don't compost bones or meat, mostly vegetables, fruits, eggshells etc. I only want compost that is good for my garden. I also have a worm composter, which I love, but the worm composter takes a few month and the worms don't eat enough for the organic waste our household has. I needed another composter and this one is perfect.
