After experiencing a life-threatening situation in where a man, who turned out to be a paroled felon was standing outside of my window with a large weapon one night, later found he was watching me for an hour, (found on security footage) I ordered this motion sensor to alert me so that I could then turn to my surveillance footage sooner without alerting the intruder so that maybe 911 could get here sooner and apprehend him. However, the first unit that arrived there was no longer a 9v option and the base has a long wire coming out the side, fine, no problem... if it worked. One sensor was completely DOA, the other that I was able to pair to the system was hit or miss, sometimes it would trigger it, most of the time it would not, despite the lights. The replacement unit was a little better, both alarms were able to be set, though not as easily as the directions may lead you to believe, I was never able to set them on lights 3 or 4 on the base, but then a grown man can walk past 2 feet away and not set them off, yet leaves blowing in the wind can. Then, the base literally fell apart in my hand when moving it. I have no doubt based on previous reviews that this used to be a great product, and maybe the other sensors are much better, but currently the long-range motion detectors and base are absolutely worthless pieces of cheap plastic that do not work at all. I am now looking for a suitable replacement that will actually do what these claim to do. Skylink needs to work on quality control & at the very least update the instructions to match the changes in their crappy product.

I purchased this following an incident where some young men were outside my house early in the morning up to no good.
The sensors mounted easily outside and alerts us to anything moving between our houses. It tends to have false alarms during the day (which is OK with us) and occasionally at night. The night alarms are not really false in that we are detecting raccoons, possums, and other nocturnal critters that we like. Adjustment on the sensor angle and sensitivity is the key and it takes some time to get it optimized. For the price it is good.

This is one of the best products I bought in a long time. Every time the garage opens, the alarm is going off immediately in the house. There is no lagg between when the door opens to the alarm beeping. If you will have the garage door open a while you can mute the receiver so it does not continue beeping. Once the garage is closed, the receiver resets and will beep again, no need to reset anything. I've unplugged the receiver to move it and it also kept the pairing which was awesome. The garage does not alarm so the intruder will not know the alarm is going off. Great product.

Ordered this after I returned Magic Closer which did not work. I don't mind giving five stars but the product design was not taken into consideration of attaching to different shapes of garage doors. I started Mahler's Resurrection when I started installing the door sensor, expecting it would have been done 4 minute 23 seconds. But when I came back to inside after I finished attaching the sensor to the door, the Resurrection was on the Finale. You know it is the long piece of symphony. I had to improvise back panel to attach the sensor. I prefer the concept of Magic Closer to this, but I lost confidence for that after the first unit was defect.

The instructions were written by someone with a good comand of the English language but no mention is made of the type of battery used (a CR2032) or how long the battery should last. That oversight may be intentional as it is impossible to open the case (to replace the battery) without damaging the sides of the case. I had to file down parts of the case to make it easier to open.
