it works great .. I just don't have in the container that I want right now. It came right away as promised and can't wait to get the just right spot for it.
Butterfly waterer?
Less Is More•March 23, 2017
This works fine in my stock-tank pond. I saw a flock of goldfinches drinking out of it on morning. Roght now it's providing water for wasps and flies (Arizona). My plan is to try lining the bottom with a circle of landscape cloth covered with some sand as a watering hole for butterflies, but if that's too heavy, I'm happy to go back to birds and bugs.
Great idea

Great idea; just needs to be weighted down. I've a brass cat in the middle and it works fine.

A shallow insert for the birds to safely bathe in!
MJ Mcpralle•August 4, 2016
If the birds in my yard could talk, they would thank whoever came up with this idea. I hear them splashing in the birdbath in my courtyard. It's the perfect depth for them to actually get in the water and splash around. I had to put a few smooth river rocks under it to get it to the right depth, and around the edge so that it wouldn't move and my birdie friends seem to love it!
