Excellent

Great sprayer, good for a large frame. 5 gallons can be heavy but had to fill it up fewer times. Ended up giving it to my neighbor when I moved.

I use this to spray Jomax/clorox cleaner on 2nd story aluminum sided house with the brass extension wand. No more climbing a ladder, getting to old for that nonsense. Then just rinse with garden hose. Forget the pressure washer and the ladder all that........
Too big for me, 20+ liter
RTPNC•June 7, 2015
Anybody buying a Solo sprayer would probably want the diaphragm pump, does it all. This unit has the good diaphragm pump. Problem with this unit is mammoth size. I am 6' and active, but not big enough to tackle this giant. It is mislabeled as 5 gallon. Yes, it will hold 5 gallons, and more. Capacity marked on the side is 20 liters, with room to spare above that. Best price for a Solo diaphragm sprayer June 2015 is Costco. The unit there for $80 is a diaphragm pump, 4 gallon reservoir, with extra nozzles and includes the optional deluxe harness..
Poor assembly instructions, illustrations and diagram. No apparent U.S. number provided for help.
Good Reviews•March 17, 2015
(Some of this is excerpted from a comment I just made as a reply to another comment.) I just received my model 485 yesterday, but I cannot use it due to poor assembly instructions, pictures and illustrations, and no number in the United States to call for help! One of the first assembly instructions is for the pump lever. The instructions state, "The LX pump lever can be attached..." But, there is no mention of any other handle but the "LX" lever, other than in a "List of spare parts" section. Since the manual covers SIX MODELS of pumps, owners are left to ponder whether their model employs "LX" style or not. So, one must proceed with attempting to follow that instruction further. Shortly after, the instruction for "Installation of the LX pump lever: See "'Assembly Instruction of the pump lever'" is provided. Instead of putting the said Instruction right there, and not even putting it in the English section of the SIX LANGUAGES manual, one must search for it. Even the Index in the English section does not say where to find it. Lo and behold, it is in the front of the manual, immediately before the German instructions. It is a series of pictures in greyscale (lack of color) , but it is not clear from the picture how to arrange washers and gaskets, as in gasket-washer-gasket, or washer-gasket. No written instruction is provided. (See attached picture.) A small bag of parts with washers, gaskets, nut, bolt, and several pieces which I could not identify were included. (See picture.) This makes it more difficult to feel confident in assembly. A list of SPARE parts is provided, but the use of the word "spare" is perhaps misleading, as I believe these are mostly to be used in assembly. The extra pieces may be spare or optional parts, but it's not possible to tell from information provided. A black-and-white diagram is provided, but illustrated parts are very small and do not make it clear which size of washer and gasket to use and where. (See picture.) The large, white plastic piece is either a no-drift DT nozzle or pressure plug "(part no.: 42 00 215), said to be included for spray pressure in excess of 4 bar (58 psi) , but if it is this part, it's confusing because the instructions say "(only for models 425 and 435)", whereas I acquired the model 485. Back to the beginning, immediately running into the problem of which washer and gasket to place on the handle, I now must contact someone for help. But guess what? There is no number in the U.S. or Canada provided in the manual or on the box, and I am certainly not calling Germany! I am very disappointed to buy what I presume is a product of good German manufacturing, only to be met with the impossibility of following instructions for assembly. I have personally and professionally evaluated thousands of products, including owners' manuals, and this one, sadly, is not provided with instructions for assembly any better than many products I have seen provided with entry-level and mid-range level products, not befitting a superior product like I thought I was purchasing. These are all incentives to return the product. I will attempt to learn more from the manufacturer before I do that, since I still believe the product itself is probably of good quality, based on other comments here.
Okay, but attachments for shoulder straps are flimsy
Eclectic Reader•July 3, 2014
I have one reservation about this product: The hooks that attach the shoulder harness to the bottom of the sprayer frame are made of flimsy plastic and their retaining clips easily break. One of mine broke within the first two weeks and the other one is wearing poorly. When the retaining clip breaks, the hook (and therefore the shoulder strap) will stay in place only so long as you keep pressure on it. So every time you remove the sprayer from your back, you can't use it again until you've gone to the trouble of reattaching the hook; You must then keep the strap (with the hook) taut until you actually put the unit back on "“ or else the hook will detach from the frame and you must start all over again.
