Missing active ingredients; Not the product in the description
Py Caffe✓ Verified PurchaseMay 14, 2018
This product is not the Dyna-Gro cold pressed neem oil in the description, and which another customer posted a picture of. It is a product made by Southern Ag which uses clarified hydrophobic extract of neem oil rather than actual neem oil.

The difference between cold pressed neem oil, Azadirachtin, and neem oil extract is as follows:

Cold pressed neem oil, is the oil extracted from the neem plant exactly as-is. It contains both clarified hydrophobic extract of neem oil and Azadirachtin - because clarified hydrophobic extract of neem oil is what you get after you remove the Azadirachtin from neem oil.

Azadirachtin is a compound found in neem oil. It is sometimes referred to as just "neem". This is the main bioactive component of neem oil, and it acts like a hormone for many insects, effectively turning off their will to eat food. Because of this, they eventually die. Azadirachtin can be extracted from neem oil.

What is left over after the Azadirachtin is extracted is called clarified hydrophobic extract of neem oil. This is a contact pesticide, which means that it acts by mechanical rather than chemical means. Essentially, the oil clogs up the pores of insects and smothers funguses to kill them. Though it has its uses, it is not as effective a pesticide without the Azadirachtin.

Confusingly, all of these things (cold pressed neem oil, Azadirachtin, and clarified hydrophobic extract of neem oil are all referred to as "neem oil". However, to get all of the effective components, what you really want is cold pressed neem oil.

At the time of writing, the product described was Dyna-Gro cold pressed neem oil. However, the product I got was Southern Ag's clarified hydrophobic extract of neem oil.

I suspect that the high rating on this product is because this used to be a different product. That would explain why the old reviews are so good, and why the product name, picture, and description seem to describe different things. (At least, that is the case at the time of writing.)
but personally doesn't "stink" like I thought it would from other reviews and comments

It's smaller yes, but it states the size in the description. I purchased it to keep the gnats away from my house plants, as we have no AC and I have lots of plants. It has a smell, but personally doesn't "stink" like I thought it would from other reviews and comments. I will update if I notice any gnats.
Good basic bug control

A good source of Neem Oil. Great for organic gardeners. I mix it with a pyrethrin and Captain Jack's Dead Bug for complete control of bugs, mildew, fungus and other terrors of the garden.
Initial results look promising

Seems to be initially effective on an indoor ficus tree when applied systemically during watering. Very low or no odor. This is my last attempt to save my 45 year old indoor ficus tree that has gotten scale for the first time. So far, the sap drip has stopped. Scale seems to be drying up and falling off the tree. This after only first watering. Will have to wait and see if this destructive pest can be conquered. Prognosis is guarded. Will update results in six months. Will give this five stars if successful. Less expensive than retail store

I purchased this in lieu of the Neem Oil at our local ranch supply. It is much less expensive and works just as well.
