A new surround receiver required a powered subwoofer (old one was not amplified) so I took a chance on this 6.5 inch sub because the price was attractive and the reviews mostly very good, and I'm glad I did. I was a little concerned that such a small driver wouldn't measure up to my previous 8 inch unit, but I needn't have worried; the bass is low and clean and powerful enough to bring action films to life in my living room, along with enriching the sound of my CDs, LPs and tapes. But if you think you need a bigger sub don't worry, Acoustic Audio makes subwoofers with 8,10, 12 and 15 inch drivers, too.

Have a Polk and Velodyne MiniVee. I like the sound much more than my Polk and almost as much as my Velodyne. It produces a very thick and punchy sound. For the money you can't go wrong.
