Hope you have better luck if you buy this

Very small box, which I expected. Seems to be strong and secure. Bought this over others for fingerprint opening and no matter how many times I try, IT WILL NOT OPEN RELIABLY. Unfortunately this renders it unsafe and dangerous. In the event you need to access it in a emergency, you cannot rely on the biometric opening feature to work properly. I bought this 7 months ago and despite repeated efforts, it will only open with fingerprint device about 10% of the time. Hope you have better luck if you buy this.
Studs are 16" oc. Safe is designed with anchor holes at 8.5".

Unless you bolt it to the floor, it's not much of an anti-theft safe. This is because the holes in the back of the safe are 8.5" apart and studs are 16" oc. This means that if you install into the wall you can only install one screw/bolt into a stud.
That's okay, as long as your goal is keeping the safe contents away from kids and other crimes of opportunity. A determined thief will break this safe from the wall and walk away with it.
Drill extra holes and screw safe into shelf walls.

This is my second Barska safe. Bought the first bigger one 5 years ago and no problems.Just needed new batteries. Always lock up your keys in a safe place even a burglar with a lot of time can't figure out Programming my 10 prints worked perfectly. I drilled extra holes on the bottom and on the side so I can screw the box into a shelf corner with sheet metal screws and metal washers. Used a rachet wrench to drive the screws in. Do NOT use wood screws as you might strip them. I slide the safe as far back into the shelf so no strong guy can put his hand behind it and yank it out. Now see if you can pull, jerk, or kick my safe off its foundation. This safe is somewhat smaller and you can place your pistol flat with the muzzle pointing to the left or right and the gun butt heel toward the back. Not big or deep enough to point the muzzle straight into the back. If I had to do it again I would have just bought a crack open short double barreled 20 ga. shotgun. Cheaper so no matter if someone steals it. Just buy another one. Don't need to aim. Just point and blow the bugger with birdshot. Let him spend the rest of his life picking out the infected pellets. Are you listening girls?

It doesn't work.

As a safe, the product meets the goal. It is not super secure, but it is likely sufficient. As a bio-metric scanner, it is nowhere close to market ready. If you think you are going to place one of your previously scanned digits on the scanner and the door will pop open on the first or second try, you are not a realist. First try will open this safe maybe one out of twenty tries. The usual scenario is multiple scans (2 or 3) of multiple digits (3 or 4) until it finds one that it sufficiently likes to pull the bars back. Cleaning the scanner lens usually does not improve operation. Frustration level on a 1 to 10 scale, is an 8. You may even end up getting the key and manually opening the safe. Resetting the electronics and re-scanning digits may be necessary and in no way improves performance.
Advice: Scan multiple digits in multiple positions. Pay attention to how you held your finger while the scan was made as you will likely need that information for future scans. Hope for the best or return this thing as soon as possible and look for another option. Avoiding purchase is also an option.
Barska mini biometric vs. Gunvault Mini Standard Vault

Btween the the two mini safes I went with the barska. I purchased them both. used them side by side for a week and then sent the Gunvault back. I Have a hard time decideing between things like this so that was the only logical solution.
The Barska is definitely larger than the gunvault. And has really one way of mounting it to your nightstand, if that is what you intend to do. The gunvault is much smaller and you could really mount/hang it any direction you like. Also the gunvault is all around sturdier. While the Barska Has a heavy duty door and front half. The back panel is thin metal and only tacked on in a hand full of places. Not a problem depending on your placement.
The deciding factor for me was the ease of entry and the sound. Both safes have silent mode which is nice. The Gunvault pops open, wich is really nice. And i will add that it popped open everytime, no sign of a sticky door as some eviews may have you believe. Only when it pops it bangs a little. I'm not so much worried about an intruder hearing me, as I am worried about waking my wife or a baby. The Barske, when put on silent mode, is quiet as a church mouse. Just press a button, put your finger on, and the bolts quietly retract to open. I will mention that I was wary of the fingerprint reader, but is has since worked every time. Also is doesn't open for a finger I haven't yet registered. Also the door is very easy to open, making the spring loaded door of the gunvault less appealing.
False Entries are another Issue i had, And the recovery time from them. The gunvault loses big here. Accidentally hitting a wrong button on the gunvault is very frustrating. Because then you have to wait for the code to reset, or just keep pressing buttons till it does cursing it under your breath. The Barska however goes from a misread, to a proper scan very quickly, with almost no wasted time. I can put an unregistered finger on to get a misread and then immediately put on the right finger and it opens right up. So even if it doesn't read you finger right the first time, just put the next registered one on and it will open just fine. I know you think you won't make a mistake on the buttons of the gunvault, but you will The finger spacing is very far apart making it difficult to enter your code smoothly the first time. Especially for your wife, or if you have little hands.

So...
Ease of entry
Quiet
Quick recovery from improper initial opening
