I had just filled the feeder and then we had days of rain and I had diluted food. These weather guards are perfect and serve more than one purpose. Besides shielding from rain, they also shield from the sun and the bird poop from the birds who like to use the deck hanger as a perch.

After installing, which was momentarily frustrating because my brain didn't immediately realize that the two hooks were screwed together and then I had the duh moment as I screwed them apart (sigh), the hummingbird gave the weather guard a couple of flybys before deciding that it was harmless enough.

All is good in the hummingbird world, for the moment.

I have two little "Aspect Hummingbird feeders" and added clear plastic "Nectar Protector" moats on top to keep ants away. But the water attracts other types of birds that like to drink out of the moats. They have a habit of pooping in the water, so I need to clean and change the moat water everyday. Unfortunately, the other birds are also pooping on top of the hummingbird feeders. It's gross and unsanitary. These guards seem to be a good solution to this problem. I worried that the edges were sharp and the hummingbirds might hurt themselves. But they probably have excellent vision and won't have a problem, I hope. The price was right on these. I saw and liked another product, the clear domes, advertised on Amazon but couldn't see spending over $20. a piece on them. The hooks are connected together tightly. I needed a vise and pliers to loosen and separate them. Left to loosen. The washers, I figure go on both sides of each hook attachment, cushions the metal guards and connects them. So far, so good!

This device makes the feeder go crazy in the wind. The feeder was fine before I attached this. It may look like a good idea, but in the real world, it is worse than useless. This is a big waste of your money.

Very nice for bird feeders. I have several sizes of this design and like them a lot. The red did fade a bit and I will just spray in spring with good Rustoleum cover. I don't expect anything like this to hold it's color for long.

The hardware screw parts are very well made and hold a heavy Sunflower feeder with no problems. When feeder is almost empty, the guard holds well in wind and does not dance about much spilling seeds.

I can't figure out why image is tipped 90 degrees. But, combining this shield with the squirrel baffle, 4x4 pole, and the rest of the feeder assembly, birds love us and squirrels go hungry

Unlike plastic rain guards these have gaskets to prevent water from dripping down the hooks to the middle of the feeders. They have metal hooks for very long life. Actually, what prompted me to buy these was the failure of plastic hooks which are part and parcel of plastic rain guards. I expect these to last for many years.
