We gave these out as party favors for my son's Thomas-themed 3rd bday party. These whistles are high-pitched and loud but kids love them. There are kind of small, so watch out for the little ones. They are just cheap plastic and appear to be somewhat flimsy, but I saw kids drop them on the floor and they were able to withstand some abuse.

They're cute and my 2 year old grandson -- who just happens to think trains are the best things on earth -- is now finding them in plastic eggs that I hide around the house for him to find. They make a nice surprise for him.
