I have never in my life been so disgusted with any of the blankets I have done
kathy dayJuly 1, 2017
I have crossstitch probably about 7 of these baby blanket covers. I have never in my life been so disgusted with any of the blankets I have done. To start with. None of strands of floss had no numbers to tell u what color went where. Now to top it off. I have run out of some of the floss . And of course. I cant find it at any of the stores. So i am not very happy. This was for my new great grand baby. And i don't want to put any ole colors. Because it might not look right. All the ones i have done was spot on. And it was all tagged. Not in this freaking kit. This was my first experience with Bucilla. And probably my last

I want to start by saying that this quilt was so stinking cute when I got it finished! Two things you might want to know before purchasing:
1) The floss comes in one BIG bundle, not already separated so you will have to separate the floss!
2) There are 32 colors for this project and a LOT of them are degrees of shading; i.e. pale yellow green, light yellow green, yellow green, and dark yellow green.
Two tips:
1) I googled a DMC color chart to be able to discern the colors and sometimes just the colors; this project was one of my tougher sorts.
2) You don't get enough floss separators for all the floss so I just put my floss into labeled snack size bags. I do this for all my projects and it works nicely for me.

Overall:
This is a great, very cute quilt, just know that you have your work cut out for you with having to sort the thread!

Just getting started. As with any of these I wish the thread would come in pre-labeled. There several reds, yellows, greens, etc that I guessed which was was in some cases. But other than than worth the money.
Not As Fun As Usual

I usually have good luck with Bucilla products but this time I'm not so sure. Apparently the quilted fabric wasn't completely flat when the design was printed on it and there are some areas where I am going to have to get creative to make it look right. I can fix it, it just takes extra time. Also, some of the little signs that are used to tell you what color are so small I had to drag out a magnifying glass and then I still wasn't sure I got it right. At least the color picture included in the packaging helped. I shouldn't have to do that though. Also, in sorting some of the colors, it got quite difficult as peach and light coral and light pink were quite close in color. There has to be a better way to sort the colors. I know some kits come with everything pre-sorted and that helps a lot. I am still working on the quilt but hope to have it done soon. It is a cute design and since this is our first grandson (after 6 little girls) I was pleased to find a farm quilt that I could do for a little boy. Just wish it was going a little easier. I'll get it done though.
