Glad I bought them, Inexpensive, and very useful
Pete W.✓ Verified Purchase•November 22, 2023
Don't let the cheap looks of this product fool you, they work and are useful for close up work. I definitely deliberated on these, but the positive reviews pushed me to try them and I'm glad I did. The small LED lights are useful and the interchangeable lenses are decent quality for the price. Of course this is all plastic and should be handled as such. Being to forceful or negligent will undoubtedly break them, but they come packaged in a cardboard box with a tabbed lid and a molded plastic tray that I continue to use to store them in. The lenses are plastic and have their own plastic box which keeps them separated and protected with the aid of slotted sides. The lid on the lens box is clear and hinged with a friction lock that stays closed until you need it open. The glasses with the lenses in place are very light weight and can be worn over regular glasses, if so needed. They can be worn over the ears like glasses or with an adjustable separate strap that fits around the back of your head very securely. They are fairly comfortable, but I have not worn them for more than a few minutes at a time thus far, so I can't speak toward durations of more than that. I'd say these are good for a hobbyist that needs to magnify detailed work.
2013-11-18 Update. I used them heavily for several hours yesterday and today I wore them pretty much not stop most of the day. My wife did make me take them off when we had lunch. I used the head strap and found that loosening it made them pretty comfortable. The lens flips up out of the way when it's not needed which is much easier than pulling them on and off.

Good When You Need "Cheaters", But No Directions on Inserting Lenses ...

Eye surgery allowed my spouse to see well "“ except when reading the newspaper because of the lower contrast between the print and the background, working on projects requiring attention to fine details, or seeing the small print on medicine containers. The doctor suggested 1.0X "Cheaters" "“ it is impossible to find anything lower than 1.25X locally. Amazon saved the day again - "Generic Professional Jewelers Lighted Magnifier Visor - 5 Lenses 1.0X to 3.5X" were exactly what my spouse needed.
If your eyes do not work as well as they once did and you need "cheaters" only occasionally, then "Generic Professional Jewelers Lighted Magnifier Visor" may work well for you. The black frames are a rigid plastic; the nose-pads are textured to prevent slipping but are not padded. The inside width of the glasses at the arm hinge is 5"; the arms are approximately 4 1/8" long. These are not for individuals who prefer more fashionable-looking "cheaters".
The "Generic Professional Jewelers Lighted Magnifier Visor" includes five different powers of lens. Magnification begins at 1.0X and increases in .5X increments through 2.5X. The most powerful lens magnifies 3.5X. The glasses come with no directions for inserting the lens into the clip. You must push the lens firmly into place until it clicks tight. It is because of this that these glasses did not receive a 5-star rating.

Exceptional value and quality for the price

I have read some of the other comments before I purchased these. I decided to order. I thought for the price what do these other consumers expect? What I recieved far exceeded my expectations. I will be using these in my aesthetic practice as well and for precision fingernail enhancements. I also do beadwork as a hobby. I love the fact that the lense piece flips up. Love the light. The frames remind me of an Oakley sunglasses frame. They fit me perfectly and are very comfortable. With a lense in place they are still lightweight. My set seems very well constructed. The plastic that they are made of is very close to the Oakley sunglasses of which I own a pair. My lense box lid snaps shut perfectly. All of my lenses are distortion free. I use the cardboard box they come in to store them when not in use. (I removed the plastic shipping "nest" so that I can store without having to remove the lense; other consumers were afraid taking lenses in and out may weaken the piece that holds the lense in place.) I am well pleased with this purchase. My husband though they were cool. ;-) So I am giving 5 stars for exceeding my expectations on price point. Delivery from Housweety was lightning fast as well; was like 4 days from the time I ordered.

Pros:
* Very lightweight/comfortable even with extended wear
* Don't slip (often glasses slip down the bridge of my nose--these don't)
* Simple to use (even without instructions)
* Flexible frame (to fit various head sizes)
Neutrals:
* Switching on the light while in use can be awkward
* The light, while helpful in some circumstances, isn't all that bright or useful
Cons:
* Switching lenses/locking in a lens can be daunting (more often than not I thought I would break the plastic clasp that holds the lens in place)
* Which also means that the quality of plastic lens clasp is iffy--waiting for the day it will break and these become useless (knock on wood)
* Changing from the glasses to the headband was a no-go--the glasses attachment simply *would not* eject despite serious effort
* They are a pain to store when not in use since only the lenses come with a case
Mainly I use these for detailed artwork (on the scale of 3" and smaller), and for their purpose they do an excellent job. Although the quality feels cheap to hold, they have stood up well to continued use over several months and I'm looking to get several more months (at least) out of them. For the cost, these were an excellent value.
I hope this review was helpful to you, however, if I've overlooked something or you'd like to know more about my experiences with these glasses, please leave a comment and I'll do my best to answer.

UPDATE 04/29/2014: After about 4 months of occasional use, the LED light stopped working. The light is powered by 3 x LR1130 batteries and one of them had ruptured. I bought Maxell Watch Battery Button Cell LR1130 AG10 Pack of 10 Batteries to replace them. I had to bend the springs that hold the batteries in place, but the light fired up just fine. Another thing that happened is the little plastic piece that covers the switch fell off and disappeared. The switch works fine without it, but it doesn't look great.
ORIGINAL REVIEW 12/2013: I'm at a stage where I need 1.5 X readers for distances of 1 - 3 feet and something more for really fine, detailed work. I've tried more powerful readers, but they don't work well for me. I bought the professional Jeweler's Lighted Magnifier hoping that it would help with really close work.
So far, I'm only using the 3.5 X lenses and they allow me to see like I have bionic eyes! The frame is very light and comfortable and I can wear it for an extended period, if needed. The LED lights are fantastic for illumination, and they're even more effective because you can change the angle independent of the lenses. I've found myself using the lights as a flashlight to see into small spaces. The field of view is reasonable for such high magnification, although the depth of field is limited, as you would expect.
I'm very happy with this purchase.
