I reuse disposable cutlery for a few runs through the dishwasher so I am looking for a quality product. These have strong splines that have so far not snapped during use plus the item is closer in size to general cutlery than most disposables. For those reasons I think the item is worth the price premium. These are larger than the dollar store items, closer to the dimensions of regular silverware- see the clear middle items in the first picture. I am noticing that the fork tines are a tad blunt compared to a metal fork or a heavy duty white plastic fork (heavier than dollar store brand). I had to push harder to penetrate the skin on mini-tomatoes (LOL see second picture). Counter point there is that I was finding the tines on the white plastic forks were snapping off after a few runs through the dishwasher - I switched to these extra heavy items as I don't want to swallow plastic pieces.
