This is a really nice front basket, although it's a bit big. You should definitely check the measurements against your fork clearance before you buy. I really appreciate the way the basket locks into the bracket. To put the basket in, you lift the foam-covered handles up. The basket has two openings that the lower bracket supports slide into. Then, you slide the hooks from the handles through the catches on the top, and when you lower the handles it locks the basket into place. It's a great design that allows you assure a positive lock.

A lot of the reviews mentioned the "looseness" of the bracket. I didn't have this problem on my Specialized mountain bike. Once I got the bracket situated, it seemed pretty stable, and I was never worried about it rattling loose. There is a little side-to-side play. I didn't find this to be a problem even with a small backpack stuffed into the basket. However, it is worth mentioning that loading your front wheel with weight will negatively affect the nimbleness of your bike, and side-to-side play will make that worse. You could probably just about remove that play entirely with a bungee cord or two.

Installation is pretty easy. You put the foam hooks over your handlebars and then tighten the velcro straps around the top of your fork. In my case, this involved a little extra cable management as my shifter and brake cables wanted very much to get in the way, but it wasn't too difficult to get everything oriented in a way that didn't interfere with the cable tensions.

One problem I did have (that I didn't notice right away), is that one of bottom hooks that the basket rests on was bent. This meant that the basket tilted in one direction, and pushed it back against my left brake. The brackets themselves are not very thick, so you might want to check them when you install.

I am VERY sorry to write this review and I am only doing it due the major safety flaw. I was so excited to put this basket on my bike, it looks amazing! HOWEVER on the second time riding with it, I almost got seriously injured BE WARNED! The basket is removable by bringing up the basket handles and taking it off. The pieces that hold the basket in place only work when the handles are flush with the basket, like in the photo.

Great concept, however as I went over a small speed bump yesterday on my beach cruiser , the bounce easily brought one handle up (with zero resistance) and the basket fell right off! I hit it with the side my bike wheel and totally jacked up the wheel! I had to walk my bike two miles home, I honestly came within a centimeter of hitting it head on, and that would have caused a MAJOR injury. I am thankful that we just happened to be in an empty parking lot, had I hit a bump on the road, I could have fell in front of a car.

DO NOT get this basket unless you zip tie it on your bike, which totally defeats the purpose of the cute removable basket.

I really think they have heard the customer feedback: I've only had the basket a few days, but have taken it on daily rides with my bike (including a few shopping trips) I admit I'm not a huge fan of too much weight in it for how squirrelly it makes the steering. The handles actually have a coating on them, which makes them pretty comfortable to carry for shopping. They also lock the handles down more firmly: several days of city riding and the handles haven't budged a bit. They also added some fabric around the bottom of the bracket that holds the basket in, this may protect the frame of the bike a bit better. Overall, I'm happy with this basket. It's long enough to carry a dozen eggs, the mesh keeps my keys from falling out, and it's so bright and yellow! I just wish I didn't worry about it getting nicked without having to zip tie it down.

Incredibly easy to install. I got the silver and it is a matte finish, not shiny chrome. The rubberized hooks that hold it on the handlebars and the velcro that holds it on the fork keep it solidly in place. It took me a minute to figure out how to attach the basket to the bracket, but then I figured it out and it is very clever; the handles flip up, disengaging the basket so you can carry it like a grocery store shopping basket! Really like it.

Pretty cool basket design- unlike others it seems to stay well secured to my bike- I like the bottom it is a finer mesh and small things don't fall out. It is easy to take off the bracket into a store- the downside is some crook could do that if you leave it attached to your bike. But I am happy with it. BTW- I bought 2 as the first one was stolen along with my entire bike! I got a new bike and new basket
