Great value

I purchased this and a separate coupling mat. My contractor thought it was better protection to have a mat that covered the whole floor so that the tile would all be at the same level, since we are not putting heat everywhere. It was still less expensive than some of the other systems. Also bought a second sensor.
Few Install Tips

Overall, a great product but I ran into a few difficulties during install. First, make sure you don't purchase more feet than you need since the wire cannot be cut, better to have less than more. Second, they don't supply enough cable guides for the installation and they dont work that well anyway, The wires would pop up during the thinset embedding process and it was very difficult to keep them down. Third, be prepared to spend an additional $135 for a GFCI thermostat which is required by code. The one they supply with your purchase is not GFCI. As I said a great product, but the application process should improve to make it easier. I'm sure in 5 years, they will come up with something better to keep the wires in place.
A solid product, DIY friendly

I'm impressed with this product, I'm a relatively new DIY home owner, I completely redid my bathroom just based on YouTube videos. I was intimidated by a floor heat install but pulled the trigger and so glad I did. With a couple YouTube videos and the instructions you get with this product, it's much easier than I had built up in my mind.

Simple things like floor heat really added to the finished product, a warm floor is quite the feeling. I wish I did adhered more closely to the instructions, it suggested a skim coat of mortar over the heating cable, let it cure, then tile over that. I saw guys on YouTube who just used thinset over the cable without securing it first, but I'm a very average tile installer so it became stressful when my hot glued heating cable broke from the hot glue I used and came up as I was tiling. There is also a beeper device you can install and it will detect if you cut the heating cable, I didn't realize it till after I was done that the beeper is supposed to be hooked up until install is complete. One thing the instructions did not mention was not turning on the heat till after the tile has cured for a month, I saw some YouTuber guys mention it, I turned on my heat after 5 weeks and it's just marvelous.

My only critique with this product is that the heating cable doesn't seem as tough as other products I saw installed on YouTube, but those other products were 4 times the price, which is why I still gave this product 5 stars. But as long as you skim coat thinset over the heating cable or at least be gentle with your tiling trowel you should be fine. I was initially discouraged after install, sure I had cut the heating cable, but I didn't and it works great.
Great Product... Here's a Few Suggestions.

install was a breeze. Their is a physical setting in the back of the thermostat to select floor sensor rather then air sensor. I bought this for a bathroom that measures 5 by 8 and my corner shower is a 38" which we did not run this under. If I could go back I would go to a 30 Sq foot system and run tighter lines...maybe 2 inch rather then 3.5... the wires are not hot to the point that if you had to curl a bunch of extra up in one spot it would be hazardous. you can easily hold this bare in your hands while its running. it can take 8 hours to heat up but I live in Canada and the temp is -35 this morning. I leave mine running all the time and set it at 27. I figured the electrical cost of this to run 24/7 is about 50 to 60 cents a day. well worth it if you could feel this floor where the cables are not running...COLD!....Don't hesitate on this product. With shipping it was under 200 us. ...Canada Home Depot sells a similar package with only 15 Sq feet for 309.99 plus tax.

Note... If you are putting this in self leveling cement as I did I will give you a major heads up.... prep the floor. ...prep the floor.....prep the floor....I wish someone had drilled that into my head. One spot about 18 inches around sounded hollow... we managed to fix it by drilling many 1 inch holes down into the concrete (making sure not to hit the wires of coarse) and filling them with a concrete epoxy which seems to have bonded it all together..... prep your concrete floor first so the self level adheres..... you don't really get a second chance once the wires are embedded in the floor.

Hope this helps....Happy Heating!
LOVE our new toasty floors!

We had to replace our master bathroom floor due to a crappy job by our contractors who installed the original floor 4 years ago (boo hiss). Since it was all coming up why not put in a floor heater? Best. Decision. Ever!

We had a contractor install but I did install a little bit of these. Very easy. You screw down the orange spacer thingy and then weave back and forth. Very easy. I think the hardest part is making sure you space correctly - the orange spacer thing has different loops so you can make your wires closer or further apart. Our contractor wired to an existing outlet and mounted the thermostat. I had some initial concerns but the outlet this is wired to (gfi outlet) is where I dry my hair and so far so good. No tripped fuses.

Hardest thing is trying to figure out how to program the thermostat. Still working on that. We followed the advice of a prior heated floor reviewer and hooked up two different sensors in case one blows. Insurance but hey, would rather have two than a broken heated floor system!

The best thing about this for us is our master is at the end of HVAC line so we tend to not get a lot of heat. With this the ambient temperature because of the heated floors makes the whole bathroom toasty. And this is a big bathroom - around 300 sq feet. The only bad...my husband is mad that we didn't tear out the shower floor to put this under there as well because stepping into the shower with non-heated floors is a little chilly. Umm, no.
