Doesn't stick to programs consistantly

This thermostat is programmable for four different times Mon-Fri, Sat, and Sun. I use an electricity plan that charges me inflated rates between 3pm and 6pm Mon-Fri, so, I needed a thermostat that I could set to different temperatures at different times during the week. This does that. There is no function to shut down the A/C so I had to get creative by supercooling the house at 2:30pm (74F) then a program change at 3:00p (85F) until 6:pm where my usual temp of 77 resumes. In theory, and through previous experience, the A/C should not run between 3 and 6pm saving me tons of $$$ on my electric bill. The problem is that this thermostat kicks on the A/C anyways during random times regardless of the temperature. I've tried adjusting the start and stop times thinking maybe the thermostat wants to pre-cool the place in anticipation of the program change, but it just doesn't seem to matter. M A/C kicked on at 3:10pm today while reading an inside temp of 75F when the program was assuredly set at 85F. There is no reason it should have kicked on. I just don't trust this thermostat any longer after several random malfunctions.

A bit confusing to install because wire colors were different, and it wasn't clear how to deal with the connections due to the battery. Had a friend who is an electrician install it for me, and he had to call the tech support number to get clarity for install. With the phone call it became a very simple thing, but an electrician needed to ask for help. Haven't tried to programming yet, we just have it set for 70 all the time right now.

This was used to replace a 50 year old obsolete thermostat. I had to call the company because their instructions did not cover my old fashioned model. The technician I spoke to knew exactly how to help me. Its been installed now for over a year and is perfect. And very easy to set.
Up and running in minutes

Installed in minutes and programmed easily. I can see where some folks may be a bit confused with the wiring. Read the instructions and don't over think it. Also beware of the cardboard packing in the battery compartment. If you do not remove it it could potentially keep the unit from operating.

After only 7 weeks (3 weeks out of the Amazon warranty) this cheap excuse for a thermostat was discovered to be defective. When I originally rec'd and installed it, it seemed to function properly although the face cover wouldn't close correctly due to poor manufacturing. After the effort to install it, I wasn't in a big hurry to take it down and return it because of a seemingly cosmetic issue. So I accepted the flaw. Then, I noticed that the circulating fan didn't work on it's own, but thought that was part of the design. When my A/C stopped working 7 weeks after installation, I decided that it might be time to bring in a trusted HVAC repairman to check out the system. Sure enough, part of the problem was the thermostat. It had intermittent issues, including the switch for the circulation fan that was supposed to have worked from day one. Do yourself a favor and avoid buying this inferior product. I had to pay to have it replaced within 7 weeks, it never functioned properly in the first place, and I can't return it because Amazon's 30 day warranty won't cover it.
