... ice maker I ever purchased and I fell in love with it
Sharon✓ Verified Purchase•January 15, 2018
This was the first ice maker I ever purchased and I fell in love with it!
I like how aesthetically pleasing the color of the unit is and just watching the process of how ice is made.
Given that I didn't just stand there for hours, watching it make ice, but it really is a cool process to watch it slowly freeze and dump the ice into the bottom tray.
The style of the unit is very sleek and modern. It's a good size unit and it just sits on top of my counter very comfortably.
I like the blue digital LCD display panel it has on the front indicating the timer, when it's done making ice, and when it needs to be cleaned. It also has a indicating light that I'm low on water so I don't have to keep checking the reservoir! Pretty neat!
There is also a plug on the side of the unit that let's you drain out the excess water inside.
Since the vent is on the side of the unit as well, you don't have to worry about it being pushed against the wall too tightly and not getting enough circulation for the units fan to run.
It's not too big, and makes about 50 lbs. of ice in the whole day.
The cycle time isn't that long either, took less than 15 minutes to make a good amount of ice for my outdoor event.
Overall, it's really convenient to have and makes ice much faster than waiting for the refrigerator to make them!
It's great for outdoor events, and makes the perfect size and amount every time!

Broke less than 1 month old, replacement in less than 2 weeks
No hope✓ Verified Purchase•September 15, 2017
This ice maker is as described. I had one previously that lasted a year before it started giving us trouble not sucking up the water. We liked it so much that we ordered a new one from amazon this time. We followed all the directions to let it sit upright before plugging it in. From the beginning it didn't make ice right on one side. The ice on that side was small no matter what size was selected. Today(less than 1 month old) it is only making 3-4 ice cubes at a time. I have selected for amazon to replace it. Hopefully, the next one will work correctly
Edit- received replacement. In less than 2 weeks it started making a very weird noise when the compressor first kicked on. It would stop after a min's time, but is very annoying. Amazon has decided to refund my money. I will be returning the replacement. This company(new air) obviously has a quality control issue

Sugru to the rescue

Good and bad in this machine. I purchased in March 2016. We were enjoying the ice and even bagging up the extra to store in the freezer because the bin is not large. Last fall, around October, the machine started making a horrible grinding sound. I contacted the company regarding the warranty and was given a demand for information. Due to other reviews I was prepared with a photo of the data panel on the machine and a copy of my receipt. I was then greeted more kindly and given a Return Authorization Number. I didn't keep the original box so they sent me one and a couple of tiny protection pads. This was insufficient for protection during shipping so I ordered some packing materials and prepared to send the machine back. I kept listening for the machine to quit and preparing for enough ice in the freezer so I wouldn't need to buy ice. Well, the machine was 95% quiet with only an occasional weird sound. Since it was not consistent I kept the machine. Fast forward to July 2017. The tray could not lift to hold any water to make ice. My husband took it apart and found the problem. It has a metal sleeve around two half rings of plastic which are part of the tray. A cent worth of plastic to make these half circles instead of half rings would have made a huge difference in ability to survive continuous use. See the photos for more info.
We replaced the metal sleeve and packed the tube with sugru then set the motor arm into the sugru and closed up the machine. If I didn't have sugru around then I would have opted for a stainless steel screw through the tray and into a new piece of plastic that was glued to the tray.
Replacing the tray will not be easy. If we could find a replacement tray the ice machine will need to be torn apart further. During manufacturing the tray is put in place then spray in foam is used for insulation and sound deadening. This makes easy replacement a huge job instead of a minor repair.
For what it is worth, when this dies for good I will not replace it. I will go with a commercial unit that can be repaired and makes a much larger quantity of ice in a single day. I want to really love the machine but want better ability to drain water (unit must be moved to a sink) and an easier time of filling (must be filled by hand) and the ability to repair more easily. I'm not too keen on plastic parts that break easily. A few minor adjustments to this machine would increase the price but also increase the customer satisfaction at a far greater rate than the cost of production.

Great machine. Works as promised.

We have been pleased with this ice maker. It makes a lot of ice quickly. It is not as convenient as a built-in ice maker hooked to a water line, but we knew that when we ordered it.
We got this because our $1900 Samsung Refrigerator will not make ice. After multiple service calls we finally gave up on Samsung. Every service call involved taking everything out of the refrigerator and losing most of it, so after a while we quit reporting it.
This machine is a great substitute for the refrigerator. It works as promised. We make a batch of ice, fill the refrigerator ice bin, and then we have ice all day. We use the refrigerator water dispenser, so we have filtered water going in.
The biggest learning point has been how much water to put in so that we have the ice we need. If we fill the water receptacle to the top we end up throwing away about half the ice, so we are now only filling it halfway, and that is plenty for us. But if we have a party or some guests, we have plenty of capacity to make all the ice we need.
It is easy to clean, and easy to run. So far it it trouble free, although we have only had it for a few weeks.

Good Ice Maker

We ordered this ice maker specifically to take on our yearly big camping trip. We just returned from the trip and the machine performed very well. The unit is very large, but we had the perfect spot for it. The unit does make noise and does put off some heat, but with the a/c going all day in the RV (near 100 degree Texas heat), I didn't notice the noise or the heat. Before we bought this one we bought a smaller unit and ended up taking it back, it just didn't make enough ice. This unit did not make enough ice to meet all our needs on the camping trip but it was nice always having clean ice for our drinks and having ice for our small coolers when we went out on the boat or fishing from the shore. The unit made ice about every 10 minutes and as long as we kept water in it, it kept on going. We turned it off when we were sleeping because of the noise of the ice falling into the tray. Many times we found ourselves dumping the full trays of ice in the big cooler because the freezer was already full of ice. I am very pleased with this ice maker and would recommend it to my friends.
