A little noisier than the original OEM part, but the water tastes just as good... Rather, it tastes like water. Which IS good. As long as the fridge door is closed, it's really not noticeably louder; only when the door is open can you really hear it screeching as it filters out whatever it filters... though since it cost less than half of what an OEM filter would have cost, I can live with that. Installation was a snap - literally - I'd never changed a fridge filter before, but after locating mine, I just pulled out the old and clicked in the new one within seconds. Important - be sure to filter out a gallon of water before using it to drink the first time! This clears out any loose carbon in the filter, so it doesn't get into your cup!

I read the other reviews, which were mixed (at best), but decided to risk it to see if I could get a replacement filter at half the price of OEM. Got it yesterday, fit perfectly, didn't have to shut off the water supply as others have suggested. You will get some water, maybe a tablespoon, when you pull the old filter-but that was water from the old filter, and I haven't seen any since installing the new filter.
When I pulled the old (Samsung) filter out, I compared the two, and didn't notice any size difference. Ran about 1 gal through the filter to purge air (just like you need to do with OEM).
I'm still concerned it won't last as long as Samsung filters, or might develop a leak later, but so far it works perfectly. Water tastes good, flow is the same, no leaks, and the price is right.

Update, I am probably in my 10th replacement, and so far so good. I've had a single issue so far, where one of them had a weak flow. Other than that, it worked okay, but I couldn't wait to replace it. I am back to a good flow with the replacemnet. I will continue to buy these while I have this refrigerator.

They work in my samsung refrigerator, to replace the stock filter. I've been running this brand since my first replacement was due, and never had a problem with leaking or anything similar. However one time I removed a filter to clean around, and tried to put it back in, and for the life of me I couldn't get it back in without it leaking. I ended up just throwing it away and putting a new one in. I don't know what the problem was, but now I only remove it when it's due for a change. I don't know if this issue would also happen with the OEM filter. It might, it could be related with water trapped in the filter after removal.
In general, I will continue to buy this brand, I see no reason to switch away.

I dissected the original Samsung DA29-00020B Filter and Water Sentinel WSS-2. The filter medium length of the two is the same as well as the outer diameter. The inner diameter of the WSS-2 was larger"¦.meaning the medium is thinner. i.e. less overall filter medium
The medium of the WSS-2 had a texture like compressed wood pulp and I was able to easily break it up. The medium of the Samsung DA29 had a texture like a soft stone and was difficult to break up.
Going by filter medium look and feel the Samsung DA29 is superior.
Taste and smell- My family and I notice no difference in water taste or smell between the two filters although when the Samsung started reaching the end of its useful life (according to my refrigerator) we noticed the taste and smell got worse. We noticed no difference in taste and smell when the Water Sentinel started to go. We're sticking with the Water Sentinel for now.

I purchased this filter for my Samsung 4287 HARS fridge. I had no idea the OEM filters would be like $35!
I settled on this filter since it had good reviews and was very inexpensive. Plus it had Amazon Prime shipping. Since it wasn't any cheaper to buy three vs one, I just bought one and figured if I didn't like it, I was only out $20.
I do agree with other reviewers that the shape/size could be improved so it fits better in the fridge. (it seems like it's floating a little rather than fitting snugly) Even a thick band that wraps around it would make it fit in the tube better.
Anyway, the water from it tastes good, the same as the OEM. Time will tell how good it's tasting when the "change filter" lights start changing colors. The original filter water didn't taste great as soon as the light turned purple (like a "change soon" indicator).
I would definitely buy again.
