Saved me from buying a new fridge!
A. HopperNovember 27, 2017
I have a GE side-by-side that was constantly freezing over and having to be manually defrosted. I had repair come out to check it and they replaced the heating element, the fan, the motherboard; none of that worked. I finally took matters into my own hands and replaced this sensor, and voila! They problem had been resolved.
Arrived damaged. But, great price and great service, Thanks! Dennis

Item arrived damaged but we were able to use it. Quality control lacking. Otherwise great price and great service! Thanks! Dennis
Works great, fixed the problem of not defrosting

Works great, fixed the problem of not defrosting, replaced all thermistors but only the one on the coil was bad, never measured above 6k in freezing water while these do at more than 10k.
When in doubt change these out

These are usually the culprit when your fridge is acting crazy. There are 2 sensors, 1 above evaporator coils in freezer and the other about midway up in the wall between the freezer and fridge. The sensors feed the main motherboard behind the freezer. They last around 7-10 years then go flakey. Cheap fix to save an old refrigerator.
Fixed GE side by side.

GE Adora side by side (8 years old) suddenly stopped keeping food cold. Did research and cheapest possible solution was to clean coil and replace sensor behind back panel in freezer side. Youtube video available. So I cleaned very dusty coils in rear of unit and changed out the sensor which is fairly easy as long as you're not a very wide person. You need to get both arms to reach the inside back to attach the new sensor. When I pulled off the panel I saw the evaporator coils were completely frozen. So replaced that sensor and plugged unit in again. Took more than a day to get it's bearings but now stays at set temps in both compartments. There are two more sensors that are easy to access in the refrigerator side but didn't touch them as this has worked (2 weeks now so far). Amazingly easy and cheap fix for my issue.
