Brackets Do Not Fit the Center Pole
D.F. Koelling✓ Verified Purchase•October 1, 2017
I ordered the CH-02 and not a single bracket fits around the center pole. With Herculean grip strength I managed one but it was flexed so far the screw could not reach the other end, let alone to be able to add the nut. In addition several came with screws and nuts pre-installed while others were bare as if this were repackaged.
I do a lot of photography and have many tripods and monolight light stands and this was just atrocious. Unusable and unbelievable.
I'm guessing this was the wrong bracket, but I have no idea. Very disappointed with Chuavet as I have several lighting fixtures coming and waiting to remedy this will not come cheaply for me. Makes me question how their fixtures will perform if QA is this poor.

Pretty lightweight. Which you may find a positive or negative. For me, it's a positive. We use it just for one lighting piece in a specific location. Works great.
When it arrived, one piece was broken. i called and talked to support. He had me send a pic of broken piece and I had a new one in days. Great customer service!

Great for parties DJ's and small bands.

I use these for lighting all the time. They are really consumer grade products but they are the highest end of consumer grade. If your a small band, DJ, or even having a party these are great for lighting. They will work great their sturdy built and do a great job. They will serve you well until your ready to make the jump to professional grade products. Most people will never need to make transition, so these go above and beyond the what their meant for.
Good buy for the price.

How much do you expect to get for $30? I think that this is a pretty decent stand for the price.
The collars that join the telescoping sections are made out of plastic but have a metal nut embedded in each of them for greater strength. Still I would be cautious to avoid over tightening, especially while in storage. Each collar is equipped with a cotter pin on a cable tether - nice.
The stand has 3 telescoping sections: 1 1/8 diameter, 1" diameter, 7/8" (Good to know if you plan to use and "O" clamp on the shaft. )
The crossbar has a square cross section. The 8 mounting points might be a bit of an exaggeration as each is only 4 1/2 " apart. This may make it impractical to use every mounting point unless you have very narrow fixtures.
UNLESS
You can alternate the mounting bolts to have every other one up or down, and mount half of your fixtures above the cross bar. You also have a 9th mounting bolt in the center top.
Stability:
At maximum spread, the legs form an equilateral triangle 3 feet (or 36") on each side. The crossbar is just under 40" wide. If you stay within the 50lb weight limit, you should be fine. Motorized lights would be best kept as centered as possible. I doubt that fixtures with moving mirrors (Derby etc...), would cause a stability problem. Spider lights would also probably be OK as they do not throw a lot of mass from side to side - UNLESS you have a spinning head type Spider light. (I would not recommend mounting a heavy moving head light on the crossbar - let's face it, if you are going to spend that much on a fixture, why not get a sturdier stand?) The more mass you are swinging around, the more likely that you are to set up a resonance and tip the stand. This would be especially true in a rhythmic, sound active mode.
End caps:
Each of the three legs is capped with a cheap plastic cap. Two of mine fell off in shipment, or while unpacking. While not a big deal you should plan on gluing them in place, or replacing them with something better. Scratching your, or someone else's floor would not be good.
Summary - Excellent, inexpensive stand for PAR Cans, fixed lights, and minimally motorized lights (moving mirror types). You might get away with mounting a single moving head light, low down on the center shaft, close to the legs.

Very good stand for the price.

Very good stand for the price. It got the job done and held 3 medium weight lights for my DJ setup...but, you will need some sort of sandbag type of weight on the bottom to hold them steady, especially if you will be using it on a wooden floor where vibration might cause it to shake, The compact size when collapsed is a great function to save space when carrying your gear. It did take a bit to get it put together, but it got the job done, saved me money, and they looked professional...just get a weight for the bottom and you are good to go.
