I've been cloth diapering for about 7 months, and I decided it was time to strip them. I didn't notice any smell, repelling or a rash on my son, but we do have hard water. I've been reading that a good preventative measure is to strip diapers every 3 months or so, so I figured I was due.
I filled the bathtub with hot water, dissolved three pods into it, and added all of my clean pocket diapers and inserts. After stirring them around to make sure none were stuck together and all were as submerged as they could be, I let them soak overnight. In the morning, I wrung them out and put them in the washer, on a Quick Wash cycle with an extra rinse (no detergent). Then I washed them as I normally would (quick wash on hot, brilliant whites cycle with Purex unscented detergent, 1 scoop OxiClean, 1 scoop super washing soda with an extra rinse, then a rinse and spin cycle with an extra rinse).
I had expected the water in the tub in the morning to be dirtier than it was, from other reviewers. Maybe my diapers really didn't need to be stripped and were fine? I don't know. Either way, I feel better about them. =) I'm planning on using a pod in the washer every month or so from now on, so I won't have any issues in the future.
I love how easy this product is to use. I have a new HE washer, so I didn't want to put dish soap into it and void the warranty, nor did I want to wash each individual diaper and insert by hand using the dish soap. I can use this right in the washer and not have to worry about anything!

No more ammonia smell!

I filled my bathtub half way with hot water, into which I put three pods of mighty bubbles. They dissolved very quickly, leaving nothing undissolved. I left my clean cloth diapers in overnight, stirring a few times before I went to bed. The water was very satisfyingly dirty when I took the diapers out in the morning! I then put my diapers in my HE washer with a half a cup of bleach, then I did a rinse load, and then I washed with my detergent. My diapers no longer have a horrible smell immediately, and my baby is no longer red after wearing her cloth diapers!
Skip the complicated strip, all you need is Mighty Bubbles!!

This stuff is great for funky diapers. If you're totally stressed out and ready to give up on your stash, DON'T. This saved our cloth! We get hard water build up and the diapers need to be "stripped" every 5 months or so. Use this on clean diapers, 3 hot cycles in a row with one pod in each cycle for amazing bright refreshed diapers. Only one cycle has not been effective for us. Stripping can allow trapped bacteria to surface so follow up with a warm cycle with bleach to sanitize.

I bought these to use as a fabric stripper to help my sheets recover from being washed in a homemade laundry detergent. I have 2 pillowcases that became tough, matted, and dark (they were white, and turned to ecru) from using homemade laundry detergent - I couldn't use them as pillowcases as they felt like sailcloth! I tried soaking those and some other sheets and towels in hot water in my bathtub with some Grovia treatments to help get all the excess dirt out of them.
The treatment didn't whiten the sheets as much as I'd hoped, however, it softened the towels and sheets. Best of all, I can use those pillowcases again! The tough, burlap-like feel is completely gone and they are soft and comfortable.
I'm giving this treatment 4 stars because I had to use 1/2 of the bag to do the treatment on the laundry, which was more than I expected. It's a bit pricey for just one treatment, but it is still cheaper than having to buy new pillowcases, so in the end I'm happy!

These work great! Thank goodness

These work great! Thank goodness, because the idea of doing a strip in the bathtub was very daunting. After about a year of use I was starting to notice some kind of lingering smell, I wouldn't say it was ammonia or barnyard, but it was definitely something and I want my diapers to smell like nothing when they come out of the wash. This did the trick and now I do a preventative mighty bubbles cycle about once a month.
