Bear with me as my story may get long.... I want to say that I read so many of the reviews on this product before deciding to purchase it. I made a great decision and couldn't be happier that we went for it. Here is my review:

I have 4 kids. All about a year apart. My two girls were potty trained early and never had a problem at night. My two sons were potty trained around 3 years old. My youngest son never had an issue with nighttime wetting but my other son, Patrick, continued to wet each night so we always just kept him in a diaper. He is 5 1/2 now and recently became embarrassed that he had to wear diaper to bed. The Huggies size 6 diapers were getting very snug on him and I had tried the other nighttime options and he had soaked through all of them. Patrick was getting embarrassed when he would have a babysitter at night who would have to put him in a diaper before bed. He was embarrassed that his younger brother went to bed with underwear on and he was wearing a diaper. He started to refuse to wear diaper and when I tried him in underwear he would wet the bed every night multiple times a night. My husband and I started a system where we would put him in underwear at night and wake him several times. We did this for over a month every single night. I was exhausted, my husband was exhausted and so was my son. And he STILL wet the bed because we didn't always time it right and we would be too late in waking him many times. We were all frustrated. Which is when I found Chummie.

I was skeptical. As I am with everything. But I trust reviews and decided to go for it. After all, we couldn't continue to wake my son and there didn't seem to be a change in my sons wetting habits at night no matter how diligent we were about making sure he went to the bathroom multiple times before bed and limiting his after dinner liquids. So we bought Chummie and honestly, it was the best thing we could have done.

The first week or so Patrick wet the bed even with Chummie. The alarm would go off and I would meet him in his room or the bathroom and change him, change his sheets and wash the censor with warm water (after each and every wet.) Then put the Chummie back on and he would wet again even with the alarm going off. The directions do say this process takes weeks or months so I was prepared that is wasn't going to work overnight. Patrick didn't love the Chummie to be honest. He disliked the alarm. Which, by the way, he never slept through. He always heard it and woke up and got up even if he had already wet the bed. We always talked it up and told him it would take time. We really encouraged him and told him this was how we were going to get him out of diapers and wetting the bed for good. He seemed to understand more as each night went on but he would get frustrated that it wasn't an immediate fix. He never complained about it as far as comfort goes. The clip seemed fine and not to bother him. The wire didn't bother him either. We used one adhesive strip and two pairs of underwear as I read in the reviews which worked great and we never had a problem with it slipping off! My biggest complaint with this system, however, is that even with frequent wiping and rinsing with warm water, it would occasionally go off with out seemingly any, not even one drop, of urine in the underwear. Patrick would cry and say "but I didn't have an accident!!!" and he was right and I explained that sometimes even the best products make mistakes;) That was frustrating for him though.

That brings me to today. It's been about 4 weeks since using Chummie and Patrick almost never has accidents at night anymore. He still wears the chummie and will continue to wear it for a couple more weeks until I am sure he is free of accidents. Now, when the alarm goes off, he gets up and I meet him in the bathroom and he finishes urinating in the toilet. He hasn't wet the bed in weeks. He even sleeps through the night most nights now with out having accidents or having to go to the bathroom at all! He is so proud of himself and has so much more confidence when it's time to get pajamas on. I know that it takes some children much longer, and I know we are not completely out of the woods with Patrick just yet, but taking this step was the best thing we could have done for him! You will have interrupted sleep and long nights but it is worth it in the end! Oh and one more tip, I eventually found bed wetting pads that you can put on the bed so when accidents occur you don't have to change the sheets every single time. That was also HUGE for me as that took so much time multiple times a night and would frustrate Patrick because he was so tired and just wanted to go back to bed. We are very happy with this product and are so thankful for the outcome we are experiencing!

Having been a little overwhelmed by the choices between all bedwetting alarms and which one to get, I ordered the Chummie first to try it on my son. So far, I like the results we have got. My son has been using pull ups for over 4 years now (he is 9). The savings, convenience, comfort and level of support provided by the company are all are outstanding with this product. I haven't purchased any other bedwetting alarm in the past and so I can't really compare it to whats out there. The Chummie was purchased for primarily 2 reasons - parents feedback on this site and customer support (which I will talk of later).

1. FORM-FACTOR
The Chummie is compact, light and easy to hold. My sons is able to grasp it well at night when the alarm starts to alert him. It is also very easy to clean and maintain. It does scratch easily, but I have noticed that a little bit of buffing with a soft cloth will help cover any unsightly scratches. Chummie is very light and he doesn't notice it when its attached to his pajama top. The clip is a convenient way to keep the alarm attached to his pajama top.

2. CONTROLS
I personally like the fact that there are only two buttons on the system. One to program it, the other to turn it off. Its important to read the user manual if you want to get a better understanding of how to change tones, adjust vibration and control volume level. If that's not important, just plug in the sensor and its ready to go. The buttons could also be easily programed by my son. That is exactly what I wanted.

3. APPEARANCE
Looks very cute and the smiley face helps him. He even gave it a name: Nino the Ninja! Nino became his friend who would help him with sleepovers af friends places soon.

4. DISPLAY
The lights are very bright. There are two of them. They light that comes out from them help my son find the alarm at night when it beeps. Also the sound is loud. There are two levels to chose from. I recommend starting out soft and then going loud so as not to scare your child. Vibration is essential and Chummie has hit the nail with the vibration; strong and effective.

5. SENSOR
This was the critical make or break factor when we purchased a bedwetting alarm. The sensor what came with this product is very comfortable and easy to attach. My son did not feel it at night and maintained his sleep. This is important because I didn't want him all grumpy in the morning. Maintaining is easy too. I used warm water and a bounty tissue. Although the company recommended against using alcohol wipes, I would use them once a week to disinfect the sensor. It made no difference to the functionality of the product in my opinion.

6 BATTERY LIFE
So far so good. I have had no need to replace batteries in the Chummie. For the first few weeks, the alarm would go off 3 times a night, every night for 2 weeks and he would wake up after 5-10 minutes. A few weeks later, as he got more adapted to the Chummie, those alert frequencies decreased and he would wake up earlier. I can safely say that the battery will last several months without replacement.

7. PRICE!
Overall, at $99 Chummie is not a great deal, it is an outstanding deal. Compared to buying pull ups or medication, you will recover the cost of the Chummie in a matter of a few months because it does not need any expensive replacements or refills. I did not calculate my laundry savings, but it could run into the tens of dollars a month. What I saved on are pull up costs. That was around $40 per month. Huge savings.

8. CONVENIENCE
Set up and maintenance was very easy. Like the "Set it and forget it" mantra on TV. Set it up at night and go to bed while the Chummie does its work.

9. SUPPORT
The company is responsive and helpful. I called in a few times for set up and to get a realistic expectation of what to expect and when to expect seeing positive results. They are helpful and knowledgeable. Perhaps my best experience with customer support thus far.

10. RESULTS
Super fast results. My son is not wetting any more. Some reviews said 8 weeks, some said 12 weeks. For us it was less than all of those. Still no wet nights after stopping to use the Chummie. THe company proposes a 14 dry night program which were successfully achieved.

SUMMARY
If you're new to a bedwetting alarm make sure you understand what you are buying here. Chummie is a bedwetting alarm which is a complete system. It comes with a cute little progress diary and certificate as well. Don't think of this as an add-on product or potty training product, because it really isn't. This device is made (basically) exclusively to treat bedwetting.

Bottom line, you will not find a better bedwetting alarm out there. The reason that this device is so amazing is not for what it can do, but for what it can do at such a cheap price. The technology, not the price tag, is the story here.

The Chummie is a solid start. It is "perfect" enough for me to say it is a five star product taking everything into consideration. I would have no problems recommending the Chummie to other parents who can take advantage of it. This product more than lives up to what it is designed to do. If you plan on making your child stop wetting the bed, I think you will really find Chummie is a pretty incredible device for the money.
JUST BUY IT! Well worth your money

My 7.5 year old has wanted to get out of pull-ups for 2 years. We tried one year ago by just waking him up a couple of time in the middle of the night to empty his bladder. We did it for 2 weeks with multiple accidents a night. We tried it again over a month ago with the same results. I had my doubts about an alarm because he would urinate 2-3 times each night and a lot. The first night, it took him awhile to wake up from it and he peed through everything as usual, but from the 2nd night on, it DRASTICALLY got better. You may want to put a pull-up OVER the underwear and alarm to prevent washing tons of sheets, but in just a week, he didn't need the pull-up anymore because if he did have an accident, it was very little! Also, we did get 2 false alarms and I think it was due to sweat from the pull-up.

My husband and I are believers in this alarm. Now, you MUST be able to hear the alarm (at least the first few nights) because if you have a deep sleeper, you're going to need to go wake him/her. But after the first night, he was more and more aware of the alarm and would wake up before I even got there. (We moved him near us in our bedroom since he sleeps with his sibling and it absolutely would wake her up, too).

If you want to see his daily log, it's below. I hope it can help people see how quickly this works. The quick progress made my son very excited and confident that he could do this. I have no doubt that he will get to the 14 straight days without an accident so he can stop using this alarm system. Be prepared to lose some sleep because he/she may wake up many times out of nervousness of wetting himself, but after awhile, he'll start to trust himself.

My boy used to urinate 2-3 times a night. Now he gets through the whole night only peeing 1 time or no times at all. He's finally getting sleep and so are we. I could not be happier.

Night 1: Woke at 2:30am. Alarm going off for a bit. Wet through everything. Dry rest of night.

Night 2: Woke at 4:30am. Both of us woke immediately. When I got to him, he said, "I stopped myself from peeing." Wet only a little bit. Dry the rest of the night. He said he went to the bathroom by himself before he woke.

Night 3: Alarm went off at 8:30pm before he was even really asleep. He forgot about our system and I reminded myself to talk about his commitment to waking up before bed each night. Woke completely dry. He said he took himself to the bathroom 3 times.

Night 4: Alarm off at 10:30pm. Wet himself. He had melatonin which is why, I believe. Dry rest of the night. Note to self - no melatonin.

Night 5: Made it through the night! Went to the bathroom one time by himself.

Night 6: Alarm off at 12 midnight. Only wet himself a little bit. Dry rest of night.

Night 7: Dry! Made it through the night! Went to bathroom at 11pm when alarm went off accidentally.

Night 8: Alarm off at 4am. Wet just a little. Dry rest of the night.

Night 9: Dry

Night 10: Dry

Night 11: Dry

Night 12: Alarm off at 2am. A little wet, more than usual. Dry rest of night.

My 7 1/2 year old has hardly ever had a dry night. He has been to s specialist because he was born with a small/partial left kidney and we had to see if that was the cause of our problems. It turns out he is 1) a deep sleeper 2) has a small bladder. We have tried it all - no liquids before bed, the Dr.s gave him bladder exercises, we had him up his in take of water during the day,we stopped carbonated beverages and caffeine including chocolate (that helped a little because he tended to wet 3-4 times a night on day he had chocolate or carbonated water, etc) and we had bought a less expensive bed wet alarm at first. That was a mistake it broke very soon after purchase and wasn't loud enough to wake him or me for that matter.

The Chummie is very loud and the vibrating and lights really help to wake my son. It also wakes me from my room down the hall. He has been dry for the past three nights and prior his wetting went down significantly- he was a typical twice a night wetter and more on bad nights. The great part about the alarm is even when he does start to wet he stops right away so we only need to change the underwear not all his bedding!! This has been great!!! I took suggestions and had him just wear two pair of underwear to bed and that works great. We slide the the sensor pad in between the two and that really holds in place. we tried the tape the first night and just found the two pairs of underwear worked much better! I do suggest going out and purchasing more underwear so you don't have to do the laundry as often because when they do wet it is two pairs that have to be laundered.

My only complaint it that it is so sensitive! That is why I gave it a 4 -It has gone off when he wasn't wet or when he went to the bathroom but didn't wipe well enough to not have a droplet of pee left - boys half asleep peeing are not the best at making sure they don't put it away too soon. I also believe it was moisture from sweat that set it off a few times (110 plus degree summer nights!) Also the child has to wear a shirt to sleep so that you can attach the alarm. My son didn't like this part during the hot summer. He is hot blooded and usually likes to sleep in only boxers anyway. However he knows the alarm is helping and is willing to make the sacrifices because he so badly wants to go camping without "a diaper" and he is looking forward to having a sleepover without worry! We are proud and hoping we can hit the day 14 dry soon!!

I would recommend this product!!
It's not perfect, but is DOES WORK MIRACULOUSLY!!!

I never write reviews, but felt the need to do so on this. My 7-1/2 year old is such a sound sleeper and would wet himself often 2 to 3 times per night. We tried just about everything... limiting liquids, waking him several times during the night, etc. He's never gone more than 1 or 2 nights in a row staying dry. He'd wear two pull-ups and most nights that wouldn't even contain his urine output and his bedding would be soaked... usually he'd still not wake up. Our doctor wasn't yet concerned, but it really started to bother our son. I started looking around at these alarms and the range of costs. Figured middle of the road was a good place to start and we could use our HSA card, which was nice.
I will tell you that this takes time, patience & a fair amount of finagling... His room is one the 2nd floor and ours is on the first, so we moved him to an air mattress in my office, adjacent to our room so we could hear the alarm and help out right away. We also purchased reusable water proof pads to cover the bedding. The first couple of weeks were rough... everything kept coming undone, unplugged and when the alarm went off, he'd be laying in a puddle of urine and we'd be changing bedding and his clothes in the middle of the nigh. We remained determined and tried to stay positive so he didn't get frustrated. We tried all sorts of things and here are some tips: Don't use the tape that comes with it... doesn't stay all that well and leave a horrible residue on everything. We found that hockey tape worked best. We'd use several pieces to tape on the sensor and then also had to put a piece over the plug into the alarm (or it would come unplugged). Put a pull-up on over everything else. It helps hold the sensor in place and helps with messes. We had some false alarms and found that if the sensor was at all touching skin (through the little opening in his underwear) or if he wore dri-fit material underwear, it would go off falsely. Also, occasionally cleaning the sensor with rubbing alcohol helps.
At about the 2-week mark, when the alarm would go off, he'd be dry and say that he was holding his urine :). There would actually be just a little bit of urine that would set off the alarm and he would then stop it before wetting all over. This never happened before and was a huge milestone!! A week or two later, the alarm stopped going off and he'd wake in the morning, really needing to use the bathroom :) :) :). That's gone on for almost 2 weeks straight now and we're all thrilled! It's like a switch was flipped, literally. Last night he move back up to his loft bed on the 2nd floor and did great!! We'll slowly back off on wearing the pull-up (since he hasn't needed it at all) and then the alarm. He's so happy and so are we! We can't believe what a difference this has made and wish everyone else the same success! Just stick with it, don't expect overnight success & try a little tweaking ;). IT REALLY DOES WORK!
