I used this on 4 Ficus trees with large 18" diameter trunks. An outside company had trimmed the trees back considerably and apparently infected them in the process. All of the considerable new shoots were 100% infected, threatening to kill the trees. I noticed immediate results but it didn't kill all the thrips and I needed two repeat applications before most of the thrips were gone. Yes, it didn't kill them all, but enough for the trees to rebound, sending out healthy new shoots. I suspect that on really big trees like these, the roots go very deep and the first couple of applications don't soak that deep and reach all the roots. It would take time for the insecticide to get down to the bottom and outlying roots. Trees don't mix all the water they absorb from all the roots into one reservoir to feed the branches. Roots on the right side generally feed the branches on the right side.
Emboldened, I tried a small diluted amount of it on a sapote fruit tree that had another more serious type of thrip infestation for 25 years. Nothing else I tried ever did any good. So far, the new leaves are completely free of infection, but time will tell if they will eventually become infected as the thrip life cycle progresses into the spring.

Treats aphids, scale and whiteflies on Plumeria tree

Had a big problem with leaf curling and yellowing plumeria leaves for years. Tried organic with neem oil which temporarily controlled the problem on my large plumeria tree, but required very frequent and expensive treatment almost every week or two. Researched options and found this chemical, and like others found this brand to be far less expensive for the same 1.47%! Well I gotta say, it takes time (took maybe 2 months) since it has to integrate into new leaves for the most part. But worked like a charm! Had beautiful green leaves most of the season for the first time ever and they stayed on the tree longer, making for a fuller lush appearance.
TIP: the product says lasts 9-12 months, some years like this one I let it go too far past the 9 month mark and the protection wore off returning the problem. I recommend sticking with no more than 9 months between treatments to keep protection consistent...if you do that I think you'll be happy with this product!
Only con: not remotely organic. So I use this on my plumeria and jasmine vines that are pretty far away from the vegetable garden. You might want to keep this to ornamental areas only if concerned about ingesting, even though the label is somewhat liberal with indications :)

This stuff is a miracle. Eliminated Maple tree aphids, no more honeydew mess.

A neighbor's 70' oak tree overhangs into our backyard. Every summer the aphids and their ant caretakers invade the tree and create a sticky honeydew mess on our concrete patio and outdoor furniture. Not anymore -- This stuff is a miracle!
Easy application: In the fall of 2016 I applied a full container of Compare N Save Systemic Tree And Shrub Drench (per the instructions). I did this well in advance of the rainy season so the product could be absorbed by the tree. Then we waited for the aphids to return the next summer. But none appeared.
It's now fall 2017 and still no aphids. Needless to say, we will apply it again every year.

A Great Weapon In The Battle To Save My Trees
Robert J. Rowe✓ Verified Purchase•April 11, 2017
I found this product to exceed my expectations. It arrived double packaged with easy instructions located under the rear label. It has a pleasant odor and mixed well with water and I wore gloves for my protection. I purchased this for wooly adelgid infestation on my hemlock trees. The instructions were simple to follow and the price of the product was very reasonable compared to the major brands. I did research before I made my purchase and found that the granular type of a major brand was not a good deal at all (10 pounds would only treat two trees) and cost $50.00. I chose the Compare N Save because this was the best value and safest to use of all other products. I was able to treat four trees with left over material in the gallon container when I finished. I also was able to treat my currant bushes which in years past have been attacked by a small moth which lays its eggs and the hatchlings devour the Bush. This year I had currant pie. My currants are happy. Next year I will be treating my blackberries because they get Aphid leaf curl which stunts growth and lessens fruit production. I just wish this product came in a five gallon bucket.
As effective/more effective than the Bayer product at Home Depot/Lowes, and cheaper
James W. Allison✓ Verified Purchase•September 24, 2016
This product is a great substitute for the Bayer product from Home Depot and Lowes, and ends up being cheaper. It's liquid, as opposed to granules a la Bayer, but application using a watering bucket is easy enough (rubber boots and gloves strongly recommended), The liquid seems a little safer than the Bayer granules for application in areas where pets may wander, since it soaks into the soil (allow 24 hours, and possibly an additional watering-in, before allowing pets into the area where this product has been applied). I have had persistent problems with spirulosing whitefly on coconut palms in my yard, and this product has done as good, if not better, a job than the Bayer product, in suppressing them.
