One of our Dachshunds got a hold of the separator rings that came with ours and chewed them right up! I sent a message to the company asking if I could purchase replacements (as it was very clearly my fault that my dog ate them). Within 24 hours they wrote back saying they'd replace them for free and to send my address. I purchased this cutter specifically for the separator rings because they're really hard to find now so I was so grateful.
Not only that, the cutter is designed really well. The cutting mechanism is spring loaded so it applies its own force. My old cutter from a different company required me to press down, so I didn't aways have a consistent outcome. Not with this product! The spring loaded blade applies just the right amount of pressure to give a perfect etch.
This cutter comes with everything needed to get the job done too, so you will not need to shop around for extra tools.

Works well for wine bottles, not great for beer bottles

Gave this to my mom for doing bottle cutting. Construction is good and it cut wine bottles pretty well. One small thing to note is that if you want to do a beer bottle you'll have some trouble with the rear rollers being too far away from the base to stabilize the beer bottle.
Apart from that, this cutter did a good job of keeping the wine bottle steady during cutting. Other thing to note is that pushing the blade down is a bit difficult as it cuts into your finger. We ended up using a cork to push the cutter down.

I then changed to the candle/ice water method and have got a perfect cut every time

Bought this on the reviews and at first was discouraged as I was not getting clean cuts. I was using the hot water/cold water method and the bottles were fracturing in many directions. I then changed to the candle/ice water method and have got a perfect cut every time. When you use the hot water method too much of the bottle heats up beyond the etched line and the bottle fractures in other places. The candle precisely directs the heat to the etched line and you get a clean break. Rotate the bottle about a 1/4 of an inch from the flame for 3.5 minutes and then plunge in ice water.If you do not get a break, take it back to the flame. It may fracture over the second passing of the flame or in the second ice water bath. Overall I am pleased with the cutter. Only gave it 4 stars because I do not have a base line to compare it to. Still trying to get a good etching for a square bottle.

Cutting Square Jars was Easy!

I wanted to cut the bottom off of large mason jars. They are not completely round, but more squared with rounded corners. I watched the video on their website and gave it a try. It worked perfectly!!! I will never cut a bottle again without using the candle/cold water method. I scored the jars, rotated the scored area above a candle flame for 3 minutes, then put the jar in a pitcher of cold water with ice. After about 30 seconds, the bottom just popped off with a perfect cut.Love this bottle cutter!
