SUPERB!!! The best Hiking Boot I've owned in YEARS and they are just as cute as their name!

My tennis shoes just couldn't do the job. My husband and I went hiking and loved it but I turned my ankle and slipped all over in my shoes. When I got home I immediately did some research and after reading all the fab reviews, ordered the Sugarpine. Couple of days later I got them and, literally, within the hour, we were trekking the hiking trail again. All I can say is WOW!!! What a difference! No slipping at all! Not even one time did I have to stop and fuss and fiddle with these boots. They didn't rub my ankles or create ANY kind of blister. I have freakishly high arches and these supported beautifully. They were lightweight, stable and made walking on the rocks like they were nothing!
Fit: I wear 8.5 in every single type shoes EXCEPT athletic shoes where I always need a 9. So weird. I also own a half dozen other Ahnu shoes so I was aware of their fit. I ordered the 9 and they were perfect. I will say, though, I won't wear a heavy sock with these, I think they would be too snug. Which is fine, I hate thick socks. If my toe even touches the end of a shoe, that's a deal-breaker for me and that didn't happen! I need a generous toe box and these were *just* enough.
I absolutely LOVE these boots! I also think the "Sugarpine" name is really cute and yes, that swayed my purchase. LOL

I bought these shoes a while ago because Amazon was having a sale on my size. This color was the only one on sale so I went with it even though it seemed a bit too bright for me. Boy, am I glad I went ahead and bought them. I love the color now! They look even better in person. Not too loud at all. I broke them in around my city, but finally had the chance to put them to the test this weekend while camping/hiking. These are the BEST shoes I have ever worn for hiking. Hands down. The entire time I kept saying out loud "best shoes I've ever bought" I've had Danners, Keens and Merrels and I'll never wear them again for hiking. I cannot say enough good things about them. Great traction on rocks. My ankles felt so stable in these even when I twisted them a little to fit my foot in certain steps. Plus the sole... the soles on these are amazing. I felt nothing. I could've been stepping on the most jagged rocks and I didn't feel a thing. When I got back to camp and changed to my camp shoes I felt every little thing I stepped on and realized what a difference the soles on these Ahnu's make. Don't even think anymore about buying these... just add to cart already.
Can't go wrong with these boots!

After doing a lot of research on hiking boots, I settled on the Ahnu Sugarpine waterproof hiking boots. I searched many sites for reviews and I read literally hundreds of reviews on these boots and ultimately there were a few simple reasons I choose these boots. So here are the top 5 reason I choose these boots:
1. The price was reasonable. I definitely plan on using them as much as possible but I could not justify paying as much for some of the other name brands like Merrill. Based on the reviews, most wearers said these boots performed as well the other popular brands without the high price tag.
2. Quality Vibram rubber outsole. Vibram is a trusted outsole used by many shoe brands for maximum traction and stability. Nuff said!
3. The style of the boot was also a major factor. I wanted a hiking boot that would have style and yet still look rugged enough to keep my trail street cred in tact:). Many of the other brands are just plain ugly. I wanted a shoe that was attractive and versatile on and off the trail.
4. Waterproof was a plus. Originally, I wanted a mesh boot because I live in a warm weather climate and thought mesh would be more comfortable. After a reading some reviews, I decided that for this trip, I would start with a waterproof boot first. This actually worked out well as I got to play in a few streams on my hike in Colorado without the worry of wet socks. I submerged my feet almost up to my ankles and my feet stayed nice and dry. I plan on buying a mesh pair as well.
5. General comfort. Many of the reviews mentioned the sizing and which seemed to fit as expected. Some mentioned that they purchased a half size larger to accommodate thicker hiking socks. I purchase a half size larger as well and the fit was good, especially since I was wearing the thicker hiking YUEDGE Women's Antiskid Wicking Outdoor Multi Performance Hiking Cushion Socks which I purchased here on Amazon. If you need a thicker sock, the Yuedge Antiskid wicking outdoor multi performance hiking socks are great.
So these were the reason I selected Ahnu Sugarpine hiking boots. When I received the boots, I tried them on with my hiking socks immediately and they felt good. There was enough room in the toe area while wearing thick socks. I had to pull them a little more snug because I felt they were a little roomy in across the top of my foot. Even with the roominess, I was able to tie them securely and they were still comfortable and waterproof. I also read reviews that talked about the discomfort around the sides of the ankles due to the webbing on the tongue of the boot. Some complained that if the webbing was not positioned correctly when the shoe was tied it would dig into their skin after a while. I did not experience this. I also did not have to worry about positioning the tongue webbing. It went into place on its own when I tied my boots. Not to say that this could not be an issue for some, I did not experience any discomfort from this.
I would also like to mention that I did some light rock climbing at Gardens of Gods in Colorado and I must say, I found the traction on these shoes to be very good. The rocks were smooth and there were a lot of areas that were muddy from rain so I was a little concerned that I would slip on the rocks if my boots were wet or muddy. I had no issue with traction. I didn't slip at all and better still, the boots felt secure as I maneuvered over the rocks. The Vibram rubber outsole performed just as expected.
Overall, I'm really happy with the purchase of these hiking boots. I can't wait to wear them on another hike. I highly recommend them!

I am a regular shoe size 8, running shoe size 8.5, so I bought these in a 9 based on previous reviews and they were PERFECT. Right out of the box I hiked about 4 miles on rough rocky terrain, then the next day I hiked 10 miles on similar terrain; these shoes didn't need a break in period (thank goodness and lucky for me since I was chancing it). They are waterproof and my feet didn't hurt afterwards, just my legs! They are lightweight an have a good color selection to choose from. I don't have anything negative to say about these, just hope they hold up in the long run.

Love Love Love! I ordered these with high expectations and was not let down. I am an avid hiker and backpacking and kind of a gear snob but these boots really impressed me. I purchased these boots for my spring break Zion National Park trip because I wanted something lighter than my Keen boots. Not only are these boots light as a feather they are sturdy, comfortable, and WATERPROOF! I was unable to break these boots in around the house before packing them for my Zion trip, the first day I ever put them on I hiked observation peak in them (8 miles round trip with 3200ft elevation gain). In total, I did 36 miles on these boots and didn't get one blister or hot spot on my feet. My feet were always dry and cozy. The ONLY suggestion I have is for those with high arches, these boots are completely flat with no support what so ever but you can put your own inserts in them. Sizing wise they were great, pretty generous. I wear a 9-10 so I ordered a 10 and I still had a comfortable amount of room without them being sloppy.
