Definitely NOT suitable for 17-inch laptops!
spec✓ Verified PurchaseOctober 25, 2017
I bought this stand about four months ago. I'm pleased with several aspects--the construction, though mostly plastic, has held up well. The numerous angles of incline made it easy to find a good one for me. The clips in the front, though annoying, were also helpful to me, since I use the stand on a lap desk that has a strong tilt. Without the clips, the computer would slide halfway off the stand.

So if you have a computer that is in the 15-inch range or less, I can recommend this stand.

Unfortunately, I have a 17 inch laptop, and despite being advertised as suitable for that size, the stand cannot hold it. The lid hinge of the computer hangs off the back of the stand, and the whole becomes unstable. The computer fell to the floor for the third time today, and now I am shopping for a new stand. Do not take the risk--this stand cannot be used safely with a 17-inch laptop.
Good buy, easy to customize =D

Awesome laptop pad, it definitely gets the job done and has keep my laptop a lot cooler than before. It's fairly easy to clean by just bending the bent tabs from it's metal frame. It does have one extra usb slot so you get back the one you use for powering the pad.

I always keep my laptop plugged in to make sure I can utilize all of my processor power any or all of the time, so I can't really comment as to how much it drains the battery but I'm sure it's probably quite a bit as the fan is fairly big.

Other than the noticeable slower fan speed from when I originally first started using it, I've had no problems and am definitely happy with it.

P.S. The tabs/pegs that hold the computer on the front were taller than the keyboard of my Lenovo t420 so I cut them in half, sanded it smooth with a dremel, and glued/folded the cushion pads on the pegs back which made it a LOT more comfortable!!
so this model in particular I picked because the fan seemed like it would actually reach to the vents

Wow. So I bought this a while ago, and I didn't actually try it. But today I was using my HP Spectre and it runs SO HOT sometimes, it makes me worried. So I finally plugged this into my USB and wow, it cooled my computer down fast. The Spectre has a very thin line of vents along the top of the back, so this model in particular I picked because the fan seemed like it would actually reach to the vents. On some similar products, the fans are kind of only in the middle area and don't reach to was wide of a radius.

My only complaint would be that the little feet that hold the laptop in place, are really annoying and hit my wrist if I am using my laptop to type. For that reason, is better on a desk setup with a separate keyboard and an extra monitor. This will raise it to a good height, too. Recommend, though, regardless. Never felt my laptop run so cool!

Was working great except the protruding plastic pieces which are used to hold the laptop in place. As a writer these make it very difficult to keep my hands int he proper place to really be able to write. If you want to use this where you have a separate keyboard it would be fine. However, if you use the laptop keyboard try something else. This morning, I had gotten up to go to the other room and returned to sit down. My top caught on one of these protruding parts and broke off. I am disabled and shut and rely on my computer as a way to connect to the outside world. I would only recommend this cooling stand if you are NOT going to have the laptop elevated or use the laptop for long periods of time. It is NOT worth the pain from these things poking into your arms and wrists and the discomfort when trying to do anything on your computer.
Best laptop stand every

I have a 17 inch laptop and I use this stand everyday with my other 2 monitors. This works great with my 27 inch monitors as I have 3 screens to use while I work daily. I work 8-9 per day in my office and the stands is great. The cooling fan is super quiet with a nice blue light. I don't mind the light since I know it is keeping my laptop nice and cool. I would recommend this to anyone that has a home office.
