Before I purchased this pedal, I saw a lot of videos and reviews of it in the net. I wasn't very pleased with the sound on those videos, beside, no one could really explain how it worked or what happens when you move certain knobs. I decided to order because I have the complete collection of the ZT amps and those are great, so I thought I had to try this one and based my purchase decision on the greatness of the other products. The first surprise came to me with the instruction booklet: it's barely two pages and doesn't really explain much, not to mention it is not available for downloading. After days of trying different configurations, I finally got the right one for me, but I'm so disappointed because it is not the high-tech pedal they brag... Or maybe it is, but is so high-tech that no one can neither explain, nor using the functions properly. The tone is frankly bad.

This pedal is a great addition to any pedalboard. One of my favorite features is the tone control. Instead of the standard distortion box "one flavor" tone control, the Extortion allows you to shape your tone in six unique eq curves. Even without the distortion, this feature is handy for achieving different colors from one rig. The distortion itself is very useful too. Using just the analog circuit allows me to get some great blues tones, but with the DSP circuit engaged, I can get serious fuzztones as well. Connect an expression pedal to control the DSP in real time, and you can achieve some very unique tones!

You can dial in a traditional overdrive sound such as a TS-9 & also have a modern distortion sound with the DSP section. True bypass. Great for live use. You can dial your sound instead of program. Also has an input for an expression pedal for the DSP section giving you a wah-like control of your distortion.
