Tried this on my 20 year old water softener and not sure if it worked. No change in the water condition. I think I was expecting too much for my old system.

After moving into a house, i had no idea how long its been since the water softener has been cleaned. Living in the Las Vegas area the water here is very hard. The water coming form the softener was not that bad but i still wanted to clean it. Dumped the full amount in the brine tank and did the regen twice. Did not noticed much of a difference but my children said they did. At least i know my beads are all clean now.

It seems to be working. Our softener is around 15 yrs. old and still going strong.
