Awning supports:
Dar Laker•May 12, 2017
The supports were delivered by Federal Express on Friday 5/12/17. The package was approximately 5 inches Square and 6 ft. long. One end of the package was damaged slightly. I actually commented hoping the contents were not bent. After opening the package, I thought the contents were spared and in good order. It wasn't until I attempted to extend one of the supports that I discovered the small amount of damage to the support securing mechanism. It appears that the tightening nob experienced a blow hard enough to distort the outside aluminum sleeve and pinch it agents the inner sleeve. After using pliers on the knob to loosen it and forcing the support to extend using a rubber hammer I could get the mechanism to operate. The dent prevents the support from collapsing to the shortest length. All this, however does not prevent any operation of the support system. I have installed the two supports. They do a very good job to stop the breeze bob of the awning pull. They hang down and move along with the awing as it goes in and out. You need to insure nothing in in the way to catch the support as it moves in and out however, this is not a big problem. I haven't used the amply supplied ground hangers yet because when fully opened my awing is above grass. I used some big nails to go through the bottom holes of the support and into the ground as stakes. This so far is working satisfactorily. Overall I am very happy with the supports, Packaging and shipment Not So Much!

The arms seem to be sturdy and made well but the brackets that hold the arms to the deck are made extremely cheap the mounting hardware is a very poor design. I think for a hundred dollars they could have done a better job.
Retractable awning supports

The poles seem to be made well, but the supplied hardware is worthless. The screw threads are different than the drop-in concrete anchor threads, and the anchors for wood decks are laughable. I trashed the supplied hardware, and used 3/8" stainless steel drop-in anchors and matching bolts instead.
