convenient to be able to read about any type of external storage device.

5.25in bays aren't very common now, but if your case has one, then 7 provided USB ports give a great use of case space.

Unit was received packaged well, in a solid box, with a photo-copied instruction sheet in English. The pigtail plugs were plenty long enough, and the connectors fit to my board connectors tightly with no issues. But, the case was a bit "thin" from left-right in my case, so it was not secure without making a few modifications. There was also a bit of a gap above/below the unit in the opening through the case, so if you have LEDs inside the case, you will likely see some light glowing through the gaps. For the modification, I needed to add about 3 layers of "duct tape" as a spacer on each side of the case, so it fit tighter, and the side mounting pins held the plastic case more securely. Unless it is adequately secure, pushing memory cards into the adapter causes the face of the plate to flex and push into the PC housing, not what you want. Once the shims were installed, function was fine. I'm willing to accept the gaps around the face (about the thickness of a credit card both above and below the face in the opening (standard 5.25" drive knockout).

I now have two of these units installed in two different PCs. If you're lucky and you have a PC case that has an open 5.25" bay that can accommodate one of these, the installation is pretty painless. If you don't have one of those, you can still make it work (though there are probably better options in that case).

The only major gripe I have with this product is the bright blue LEDs that are always on whenever the PC is on. Maybe I'm in the minority but I don't want my PC lit up like a Christmas tree so I don't have blinking leds all over the place.

I bought the first of these Kingwin fan controllers several years ago and it went into an older case that was manufactured when most people still had DVD drives in their PCs. So I had 3 open bays. But I didn't like the bright LEDs so I took the fan controller apart, removed the clear plastic part that protrudes from the front of the fan controller, drilled some holes in the right places for the front panel blank on my 5.25" bay and hot glued the fan controller to the blank. Then it was just a matter of putting the knobs back on and popping it in. This completely hides the LEDs. But it would have been nice if it didn't have them or if there was at least an off switch for them. I know it's a cheap product and you get what you pay for but still. It costs money to build LEDs into a product like this and most people who are going to guy this would still buy it without the lights.

Anyway, if you can make this fit into your PC in a way in which you have convenient access to the knobs, it's a good, inexpensive way to control 4 fans. You do have to guess at some things like fan speeds. I have another product made by this company that I find useful as well. For the price, it's made as well as it needs to be and seems to last.

The overall product works but I was disappointed in the fact that I did have to buy an internal card to connect the usb cable to my motherboard. If it wasn't for that fact I would have given this card reader a 5 star. The manufacturer should realize that not everyone has a newer motherboard. Mine was purchased in 2013 and did not have support for that internal double usb cable causing me to spend an additional $20.00 to by a PCIe card to make it work. Everything works fine but it would have been nice if the manufacturer would have supplied you with a card or adapter just in case.
