Prices seem to keep dropping. Filter arrived quickly. Installation was simply push-in for our GE side by side fridge with bottom freezer drawer. Some initial leaking because I pulled it out and pushed it in again to make sure I had it inserted correctly. No leaking at all now. If you do get leakage, someone recommended trying newer o-rings from the hardware store. I would try new rings first before returning the filter. You have to siphon at least a gallon of water to get rid of filter particles and air in the line but then water runs clear. Two gallons recommended but one gallon worked for me. Normally, our tap water tastes fine to me, and with this filter I didn't notice much difference in taste. We used the fridge water without a filter while waiting for the first one to arrive and really, it is the same as the tap water. So, if filtered water helps you sleep at night, I would go for this deal before spending twice as much for the alternative.

WaterSentinel WSG-4 GE RPWF Comparable Water Filter I saw some negative reviews about this product leaking. I was worried that I might have bought a bad filter but I ordered it anyway. I have received and installed this filter and am happy to report that there are NO ISSUES with leaking or fit. Look, the filter is inserted into the outlet and has two O-Rings on the filter tip to keep it from leaking. You must moisten and or lubricate the O-Rings before inserting them into the outlet of the refrigerator. If you don't lubricate them first, you might not get a good seal and therefore find water on the floor or in the refrigerator soon after installation. This could happen with this filter and even with the GE name brand filter. I hope this helps others.

You can order a ge bypass filter for Free by calling the GE customer service (and giving them your fridge serial number). Then removed the RFID chip under the label carefully using a utility knife (many YouTube videos will show you how to do it). Tape that chip inside the filter compartment and you can use this awesome made in USA filter. The GE filters deteriorated and stopped dispensing water in less than two months, multiple times, in the past couple of year. I couldn't afford spending multiple hundreds of dollars in filters every year. Otherwise I would prefer to use the genuine filter.
Superb filter!

Last week the water filter replacement light went on, on my GE refrigerator. I went from store to store looking for replacement filters. I was unable to find anything. I decided it was time to scour the internet. I found this filter for $25. That's great considering comparable ones go for up to 50. I wen ahead and made the order. The item showed up on my doorstep in the typical brown Amazon box within forty eight hours, which is fantastic. I opened it up and immediately found it was the same quality as the one GE makes. I went ahead and unwrapped it, and swapped it for the one inside the refrigerator. Now the replace filter light is off, and once again i have super pure water. The only difference between this filter and the retail filter is what you pay for in the name brand. I agree--sometimes you get what you pay for, but this is an exception. I would highly recommend this to anyone needing to replace a refrigerator water filter, but cannot bring themselves to spend $50 when then can only spend $25.
