No bees for me!

What I didn't realize with this bird feeder is that its also a bee feeder! Bees are everywhere. Inside, outside, hovering around. In fact I think the bees are eating more jelly than the birds, if birds even approach when so many bees are present. Will try again next spring, but have my doubts.
Easy jelly bird feeder

Easy grape jelly feeder for orioles, about the same size as my hummingbird feeders. In the strong summer heat of Phoenix Arizona, it does drip a little melted jelly very very slowly from the center bottom where the handle is to turn the paddle to help it dispense more jelly. I have not had to use that paddle, as the jelly has been feeding out the holes by itself. I use the provided plastic jelly holder, but it is the same size as my jelly bottle, so I could have just attached the whole bottle of jelly, but I didn't want it all to be out in the hot sun the whole time.
LEAKS

Great concept but poorly made. It leaks terribly. For some ridiculous reason, there are 3 tiny holes in the bottom tray & it seems like it might be for the chain to connect but it isn't, you connect it to the perch portion. The part that stirs the jelly even leaks. I have put pieces of heavy duty packing tape over each of the leaking areas and it seems to keep the leaking at bay. It's just a ridiculous design - not only messy but attracts ants and other unwanted insects. I can't believe other customers didn't complain about this. So far, I've not seen a single Oriole eating from it either - so I'm not convinced they even like - they still eat from the hummingbird feeders.
Happy to make the birds happy!

We put this feeder out yesterday near one of our hummingbird feeders and today the orioles were all over it! They still like to drink from the feeders, but they are definitely enjoying the jelly. They are gorgeous yellow creatures and it makes me happy that they now have a reason to visit our yard in particular, not just all of us in the area who have hummingbird flowers and feeders.
Baltimore Orioles Love it!

I saw a Baltimore Oriole at my hummingbird feeder, so I ordered this feeder from Amazon. Two days later it arrived, I hung it on the shepherd's hook and a pair of Oriole's came to eat the Welch's grape jelly. They ate several times a day. Then they came with their babies and fed them jelly. Now the whole family comes to dine -- sometimes four at one time! The Feeder is easy to clean and fill, and I also noticed that the mouth of the large Welch's jar is the same size as the feeder jar, and could also be screwed onto the feeder. The paddle works nicely to push more jelly out into the dish when needed. I, and the beautiful Orioles, love this feeder.
