They work well for the price. Fun for the kids of all ages.

I ordered two of these for xmas presents. One was focused right out of the box, and I had difficulty focusing the second one. There are two positions to focus, one at each end. The eyepiece for fine tuning, the end piece for rough focusing. We love looking at the stars and the beach areas at night when in total darkness. With all the hype about keeping the beaches dark for the sea turtles, it's gets pretty dark and these come in handy for just checking things out. https://youtu.be/pOwNPx915NU
way better than I was expecting

Given the cost, way better than I was expecting. Very clear focus out to 100 yds, but requires constant adjustment of the objective and ocular. Pretty sure all of the Gen 1 devices are this way, so no biggie. Have had 2 friends purchase the exact same unit after using mine. Thinking about buying another.
Excellent optic

I quite enjoy this monocular. It sees quite well at night, especially during a full moon, however a full moon is not essential to this working. The max range that I've seen in pitch black is about 200 meters. Under a full moon's light, it's much further than that. It is a Gen 1 NVD, so it's not the clearest visual, but is well worth the price. The IR light doesn't extend very far for me, even in a pitch black room, so I'm going to purchase an IR flashlight one of these days. It's a 3x magnification, but I do wish it were a 1x. It would just suit my uses better if it were a 1x, but this is not a breaking point, as there are times when it is necessary. It has a threaded tripod mount on the underside, so you can attach it to whatever you may desire with that same thread.
I've attached some photos of when I used it at my beach, I was trying to watch the sea turtles hatch, but it wasn't their night. The city lights in the distant are highly visible, of course. The people in the photo were well over 150 meters. And the moon reflected light off the waves quite nicely. If it wasn't for the moonlight though, probably wouldn't have been able to see the water as easily.
Overall, great purchase.
Good value

You can see in the dark! But it's kinda like looking through a Fisher Price my first night vision. The image is hazy around the edges but the center of the image is clearing. The ir light leaves something to be desired. If you use this in conjunction with a real ir flashlight it rocks.
This is the night vision you want to buy.

Night vision seemed to be super cheap or way too expensive for our budget! This monocle was a great value and the husband loves it!
