Blue Moon Wisteria

EDIT - I wanted to mention that I have had this little plant in the ground since April and it has simply exploded with leaves and new growth! From the 8 inch twig I got this spring it already looks like a small bush. We've had a pretty dry summer in Oklahoma but the wisteria, which gets full sun on southern exposure against a brick wall, doesn't seem to mind. The best part? It even has its first flower bud on it already! I can't wait to watch it bloom and see the gorgeous color. If it was possible to give a product more that 5 stars, I would!

Shipped quickly with the root ball well wrapped in cling wrap. Despite the plant being only about 8 inches tall, which was expected, since planting it a week ago it has already sprouted another inch or so of growth out the top. The plant itself appears healthy and strong. I can't wait to see it in maturity!

The only criticism I have is that it arrived in a box that was too big for it. The root ball was thick enough that it was wedged in the box well and didn't look like it had moved around much, but the box was big enough to fit at least 6 of them in. However, the plant was not damaged in any way and shipping was so fast I doubt it had time to be damaged in transit anyway!
BIG cold hardy plant!

So far so good, the last one I bought, the leaves wilted and it got attacked but looks like its still growing, this one looks like its doing good :)
So its been quite a few years later.... Well long story short I left one vine to grow wild and the other I pruned and did my best to hold this GIANT plant up off the ground, lmao.
I think it bloomed after it's second year, started small but it very quickly grows to the point you'll want to cut the thing well before you should because its honestly unrelenting once it takes a good root, and it quickly makes suckers to attempt at spreading itself too, if you're not careful this thing can become a huge nuisance so don't turn your back on it!
Also this thing will survive the Wisconsin freeze with very little to no damage.

Update 2023- After needing to vacate my old family home with my wife n kids, being borderline homeless for a while I've managed to scrape myself back up and now own my very own house :D
Unknown on the status of those old vines but I hope whoever owns the place appreciates the TOTAL HELL these things do, lol.
I'm really really not joking, these vines will... ruin your life, lol jk. Lets just say some cheap chinese made "iron/steel" trellis isn't going to cut it, it'll be demolished in no time. You're gonna need something very very strong that will last a good long time, that is if you're going to let it grow.... if you let it grow as much as it wants you're not gonna be able to contain it lol. My plan with this new vine is to let it grow up to a certain point and probably just eviscerate most of the new growth cus this thing isn't a joke xD
The summer of wisteria?

I have to start by saying that I cannot grow plants. Every time I try, they turn black, smell funny, get furry and die, not necessarily in that order. I ordered the wisteria with grim reaper thoughts in my mind; I'm a mass murderer of plants after all. I knew I was going to kill this plant in some kind of horrific way. But I really want wisteria hanging down from my porch!

It came in a little plastic cup-like container with dirt in it- this little plant, so cute, and still all green:-) I did not like the thought of killing a child-plant. So I cut the cup thing off and put the roots/dirt (that stayed in the same shape as the cup thing) into some dirt in a pot that used to house a plant that I killed a few months ago. I really hoped that this plant couldn't sense the death of that other plant. I think it was an avocado seed that was sprouting and then turned black, smelled funny, got all furry and died. Anyway, I put it in and gave it a little water.

The next day, I skulked down the stairs knowing what I would see. About half way down the stairs, I noticed that I couldn't smell anything funny yet. I walked into the kitchen and lo and behold, that little wisteria was about two feet tall!!!! It was actually climbing this wooden stick that came with the plant!!!

I've had this plant for a record-breaking two weeks now. It doesn't smell funny at all!!! It's still green and it's not furry either:-) This weekend, I'll plant it outside and see if that kills it. There's a bunny out there that has a stomach made of iron or something. I hope he doesn't nom nom nom my wisteria.

If he doesn't, it will trully be the summer of wisteria:-)
Blue Moon Wisteria Vine - such a blessing

I purchased our Blue Moon Wisteria Vine, which arrived like a stick with roots. I planted it in a small container and it magically grew one stem at a time each day bringing me such joy. It is now 3 months and my plant has grown to over 15 inches tall, reaching for the sun. You see, I consider it a blessing that it grew so big and strong after I got out of the hospital after a 9 day stay. I had an abscess of the lower lobe of the left lung with pneumonia, plus acute hypoxemic respiratory failure, with Empyema, a more serious and life-threatening condition where pus filled outside my lung. After two surgeries, I'm home watching my Wisteria grow strong, giving me encouragement as I grow stronger - like my Wisteria.
Started healthy, but now not so much. And now happy and growing

Bot this little plant for a anniversary gift for my wife. It arrived October 2016, It had 5 leaves, one of the two branches was bent and eventually broke and fell off, but the little plant appeared to healthy. We planted it the next day in a very large (15 gallon) pot and put it on the front porch where it would get good afternoon sun and would be out of the wind.
I live in California, and we had 4-5 nights in December that the temp dropped to 30. Over the month of December, the little plant lost all of its leaves and now it looks like a twig stuck in dirt....I'm very disappointed, and not sure if I'll try again with this seller.
I don't think the plant like moving to California from Kentucky.
Ever the optimist, maybe it will turn around in May.

Oh my goodness after tax season 2017, my little plant leafed out and has one vine that is almost 4 feet long. I think she (the little wisteria) is happy. She grows a noticeably every day. I am glad I was patient and didn't throw her in the compost bin. 😊
