We bought these for our son's week-long conservation camp, expecting to toss them when it was over. They withstood the mud, long hikes, and stomping through the woods at camp, and have kept going through the fall and winter. Great value for money.

I purchased the Hi-Tec Men's Bandera Mid Waterproof Hiking Boot in the wide width for my adult son who is a truck driver. He likes the Hi-Tec boots because they are made of leather and this allows for more breathablility for his feet. He has a wider foot so he always gets a wide boot which is comfortable for him without having his feet scrunched up. He also says he can even get a thicker pair of winter socks on with the boots and still be comfortable. The rubber over the tops of the toe areas is great because this is the area of boot/shoe that takes a beating when driving so many hours. The waterproof boot keeps his feet dry going out in all types of weather. The thicker sole is comfortable and the boots are made well and last long. The laces stay tied and are not coated with all that slippery plastic coating like so many other laces are. He was so happy with these boots that I ordered another pair for him to "put away" and also ordered my teenage grandson 2 pairs as he likes these boots for school because they help on the slippery wet floors at school (rain and snow) and as he says "they look cool with my jeans". I am very happy with these purchases.

I have had several pairs of these. I get the wide and they are pretty comfortable, with support that enables me to be on my feet all day. However, the hollow heels wear through quickly. I walk a few miles a day on rough and steep pavement. I do not drag my feet in the least but they wear quickly. Despite this fast wear I will probably get yet another pair soon. They look pretty decent and I can count on them being comfortable for some time.
I always have to replace laces after about two months but again, pretty decent value.

So I got these to hike in, and for occasional bad weather (rainy days, and we'll see about how they handle the winter this year in New England). I also got them in part because I wear large shoes, and they were at a reasonable price. I've now had them for about 5 months.

Overall, I'm quite happy with them. I've worn them at work, where I'm on my feet for most of a 9 hour day, and out in the rain a bit. I haven't tried hiking yet or in cold weather, but they're fairly comfortable and well made. My feet felt best when wearing thick, wool hiking socks, since that provides extra padding. I also feel they're best when tied tight. I wasn't a huge fan of the laces, which don't provide a lot of slack, and the hooks at the top are little uneven, but those are very minor things. So far, they are also a little stiff, but will hopefully break in and loosen up a slight bit over time.

For the price, I'm quite happy with them. This could change once I've used them more, and gone through a full year of seasons and weather, but I doubt it. It seems like the outsides are well made, and the inside as well. I might try out some version of insole inserts to improve the arch support and bottom of the foot comfort, but I often do this with shoes. I would recommend, and think they are a good value.
