Hands Down, my favorite wasp or hornet trap design.

I have done many tests with these traps and have been unpleasantly surprised to see so many people using them to collect bees, including honey bees. If I could do one thing with this review, it would be to ask others to please not trap honey bees.

For wasps, I use apple juice filled to just under the bottom cones and then I hang a strip of lightly cooked bacon near the top. This bait combination attracts wasps and hornets without attracting and trapping the very valuable Honey Bees.

Versatile, easy to wash out, convenient to hang and place, easy to see what's inside. If you want to dispose of the bugs inside the trap, just put the entire trap (bugs and all) inside a gallon size zip locked bag... zip it closed and then place that inside your freezer for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, everything in the trap will be dead and you can wash it out right into your garbage disposal without being concerned about flying insects getting out.

These will hold up to years of use and I definitely recommend them without hesitation. But Please... do not trap honey bees, and for that matter, don't trap orchard and mason bees as they are extremely valuable pollinators.

Oh WOW! These things work! FINALLY an inexpensive solution to our yellow jacket nightmare. We've bought several of those hanging tube things you can get from Walmart or Home Depot and watch as the yellow jackets totally IGNORE them. But these things WORK! Within a hour of placing one outside we had 15 yellow jackets caught. We followed the recipe and use the apple cider vinegar instead of regular vinegar and doubled the success. I HIGHLY recommend them and would give ten stars if I could.

While attempting to hang these traps, the lid on both of them came loose and the yellow base fell to the ground. When the first one fell off, we thought we just did not have the lid attached tightly enough, so before hanging the second one, we made certain the lid was as tight as it could be and the same thing happened, spilling a sticky mess all over. These lids do not screw on; they just have a slight area where you give the lid a twist and it stops - not like something you can turn 2 or 3 times to make certain it is tight. The plastic used to make these is very cheap, as well. We ordered these because we had a very similar design before that did work and trapped the wasps and hornets we were aiming for and was made of better quality plastic, but the lid on that one deteriorated from the summer sun and cracked, so that is why we ordered these, thinking they were of the same quality. Very disappointed and now I am going back to the drawing board to find a trap that is of higher quality.

I walked out on my patio to find 2 wasp nests and approximately 30 wasps staring at me. I hung this trap right outside the patio with some skepticism but to my surprise I checked the patio 15 minutes later and couldn't find one wasp! I checked the trap and approx 10 wasp were in it. With in a few hours, another 15 or more were dead! I hung this in april and I have found less nests than usual as well! I highly recommend this trap. My children and I no longer have to fear the wasp when spending time on the patio!

I'm giving this a one star because it still traps wasps, and i have no choice...however it's horribly designed. If you follow the recipe you will end up with liquids leaking everywhere. You have to use very little fluid. I'm looking for a better design where the hole is higher up to allow enough liquid to drown the little beasts, so they can't find their way back out and so it doesn't leak as I'm hanging it....most annoying product EVER!
