Cats

It is such an advantage that there is the capability to purchase a replacement pump for the cat water fountains I have. I did begin having issues with one of the fountain pumps, but it was not due to a defect. I have a cat that likes to put the cord in his mouth and walk off with it to move the cat fountain around. This caused the pump to draw in air due to the water level being low. My cat does these sort of pranks when either no one is at home or very early in the morning when no one is awake.
Too much cleaning required and odd noise

I replaced my pet pump because it was making a constant electronic droning noise near the outlet. Well, the replacement pump makes the same annoying noise, so I simply stopped using it and simply use the main water dish without its fountain parts. It's also a pain to clean within all of the nooks and crannies (I suggest a small scrubbing brush or a bunch of Q-tips).
Perfect replacement for Pioneer Pet Fountain - Runs quietly!

I first bought a different, cheaper replacement pump for my Pioneer Pet stainless steel raindrop pet fountain but it was way too loud. I had to take the stainless steel cover off in order to reduce the noise with the other pump and water would splatter out. The noise and mess got annoying so I decided to order this pump and I'm glad I did. It's perfect. It fits well and has good flow even on the lowest setting and, most importantly, it's quiet! I can put the cover on the pet fountain again. If you need a replacement for you pioneer pet fountain, I would highly recommend this pump.
Exact replacement

When the pump that came with my Pioneer water fountain burned out, I bought this as a replacement. It was cheaper than the one sold by pioneer on here, and fit perfectly. It is the exact same one as the one that came in the box.
sounded like it should

Took a bit of fussing to get it going. Hence the 3 stars and then we'll see how long it lasts - I give it a 4 if it doesn't quit in a couple months.
Started out sounding really loud, (seriously? another dud) took it all apart, put it all back together, sounded like it should, (great) but no water coming up. (AND yes the little magnetic part with the plastic fins that draw the water in is spinning)
Took it apart, put it all back together, put it back in the water, nada...sigh.... (yes it was all lined up) took it all apart again (like each time - out of the white case that holds the filter) took the pump out took that apart (again) and put that directly into the water adjusting the sliding mechanism - nope no difference. Took all the pieces apart AGAIN for like the 8th time (no I haven't listed all the times I did this). Put it back in the water and OMG magically (ie nothing was ever done differently) it's now working! YA!
Oh and the reason I had to buy this one? .... because the power supply for the first one lasted about? maybe a month. Hope this last a tad longer. My first ceramic water dish's pump that I have had for around 5-6 years is still going strong. That one is just a tad to large for this bowl unfortunately.
