Holds rug in place better than its competition

I had previously bought a very thick pad for a large rug, which worked well but was more than I wanted to spend for a light rug that was less than 4' x 6'. I found this Epica plus another similar looking one on Amazon, both quite affordable, to see which one worked better to prevent this light rug from slipping around on a smooth floor (in this case, marble). The Epica was the better one -- not only a bit thicker but also the pattern of the "weave" (both were sort of rubberized) had more surface touching the floor and grabbed it better. My wife and I are no longer slipping when we walk through this part of our foyer.
This really works!

Tried this because of the great reviews. We have a couple of small rugs - one a wool dhurrie and the other one made of silk. Our cat had a fun time kicking them up while racing around the house. Tried other brands of "gripper" type pads but non seemed a match for our cat. This one really works - carpet stays in place on our wood floors. Since it worked so well, we decided to try it in a rug- on-carpet situation. Lo and behold it helps the sliding we had been experiencing. Used to have to reposition it numerous times a day - now only occasionally.
Left honeycomb pattern glue marks on my laminate floor

The product is very good but Left honeycomb pattern glue marks on my high gloss laminate floor, so had to return. Luckily i found out in just 1-2 days. So Beware....Not meant for gloss or high gloss laminate floor. Will destroy it. Have heard horror stories from others with high gloss laminate floors. Whether works for hardwood or not will need to be verified from the vendor. Should work well on tile or stone without problem.
Non traditional use

This nonstick area rug pad was perfect for my nontraditional use. I have a bolster pillow that I put under my legs when my sciatica acts up. The only problem is it slips around on my leather sectional. So I ordered the nonstick rug pad, cut out a piece to size and put it under the pillow. Now the pillow stays in place, and I have enough material to replace the nonstick pad another five times. It's wonderful product and, I have used it under area rugs and it works just as well.
Just like your car tires - more grip is better

This design works - some others do not.
I have 11 area rugs on wood floors of different ages, shapes and sizes. All have some type of non-slip rug pad underneath to keep them in place.
This most recent purchase on Amazon was to replace one of the styles - probably purchased at Home Depot, but available everywhere - that does NOT work. My experience has been that products like this Epica which have generous surface area work far better than the more widely spaced/thin products. The Epica style products don't allow the overlying rug to gradually migrate due to foot traffic pressure over time.
The product I'm replacing was a popular seller but with the more widely spaced spider web design which essentially meant less tire traction on the road and my overlying rug would gradually migrate right with traffic such that I had to constantly readjust it.
My experience suggests the brands which have the most actual neoprene/whatever surface area hold the BEST, the sparser designs with minimal spider web style coverage don't hold the overlying rug in place on wood floors.
There are many brands which can be confusing, but in recommending design my experience suggests the "Full Coverage" styles work better than the lesser coverage designs.
Hope this is helpful to you.
