Beautiful stocking desing

After 3 years of working on this, it turned out beautiful. It can definitely be done quicker. Lots of extra floss and easy to follow. Not a beginner project due to amount of stitching involved. My husband loves this and we can see this becoming a family keepsake.
Cute but smaller than I anticipated.

I normally do cross stitch and found needlepoint to be okay. The stamped on pattern wasn't the easiest thing to get used to. I found the stamped on pattern colors to be fuzzy in certain areas, for my aged eyes. Also, I still can't figure out how to blend the stitches, especially when it will have a back stitched outline.
The patterns are cute as a button. The finished stockings are quite a bit smaller than I wanted. Santa couldn't put much into them. I selected my own backs, hanging loop and put in liners. The felt was adequate but I did not feel it would stand the test of time. My sons cross stitch stockings are 30+ years old, much larger and still look fabulous. Picture shows size differences.
I was able to complete the penguin stocking in less than 3 weeks. It felt like I was at it 24/7 but I had a pre-Thanksgiving deadline line to allow time for it to be sewn into a stocking before Xmas.
I would use this brand again. I will try to enlarge the next one on my own and use my same modifications to finish it.
One other thing, you can't run to the store to match their thread. You must call them to get additional thread. I know this because I needed more of a blue/black color for back stitching and couldn't find it.

Pictures don't portray how adorable it is

I'm an experienced sewer and have made a lot of these stockings. This is the first time I used this brand. The design is adorable. The instructions easy to understand. I loved how the thread was organized. I gave it 4 stars due to the quality of the blue felt which is the base and the back of the stocking
It is thin and really should be thicker and heavier to support the needlework. I always line my stockings with a quality cotton lining to prevent stretch and wear on the stocking. If you don't line it and put anything inside with some weight, over time the back would definitely wear out. I've got stockings that are almost 40 years old and still look great. That's what you hope for after going through all this work. If the quality of the felt does not improve, lining in a must to protect your time investment. Will definitely buy another kit from this brand.

Mostly half stitch, goes fast.

The Detail is very comples and there is a lot of it. I understand everyone is tryingto maximie profits but the instructions are all on one page. Really could have been on two or three. The constant folding and unfolding the paper is heavier but, again, saving money to put it all on one page is cheap! The light greens are hard to see. the detail is hard to read. I expect more from Dimenisions. It is not impossible just annoying.
A great craft project

I purchased the toboggan trio to make for my child. This was my first felt stocking ever and I don't have great sewing skills. I made a basic pillow in middle school a very long time ago and can do a crappy mend job on a hole in something. That said, it took me a long time to finish this stocking, but it was worth every minute of it. The finished product is stunning and I am very proud of the way it turned out... And I don't say that about a lot of my craft projects lol.
I really enjoyed seeing it come together and while I did learn a few lessons along the way it turned out beautifully. My grandma made one for me when I was born and I still hang this stocking every year, I wanted my children to have a similar heirloom type item.
My biggest suggestions to other beginners is purchase some fabric glue, it can be very helpful making sure sloppy knots and yarn pieces stay where they need to be without adding any noticable bulk to the outside of the stocking. Look up stitches you might not be familiar with on YouTube, there's some great guides out there and practice on some scrap felt. Also, pick up some pillow stuffing as this does not come with any of that. Good scissors and a lot of time and patience are a must. I spent 3-4 hours almost every night rewatching my favorite TV shows while focusing intently on this stocking for months (probably around 4-5 months).
I did run out of some thread, mostly the white and green... But I had a surplus of everything else. I did choose to do my child's name in red yarn instead of the blue thread as I preferred the way it stood out. I like seeing that rope stitch in the yarn more so than in the thread.
