Good Price, Effective so Far
Becky ND•January 27, 2018
A week after my initial review I am upgrading from 4 stars to 5. In less than 2 weeks my son has had 2 fully dry nights, with most the others the alarm waking him up causing him to stop peeing immediately. Last night I didn't see a reason to change his underwear even it was that fast. I'm hoping it won't be too long before we're done with this - but I'm extremely happy with the results we've seen so far. Bonus - helping the environment by reducing our constant laundry and/or pull-up use.
----first review below------
So far so good. My 6 year old wets the bed consistently. We just finished our 4th night - night #1 - he freaked out and screamed when the alarm went off, but I quickly got to him. He fully wet the bed this first night - but it was his first try. night #2 - he peed probably half in his bed, and half in the toilet after being woken by the alarm. Night #3 - just a tiny spot made it to his sheets, most ended up in the toilet. Night #4. alarm went off and I was surprised to find no leak to the sheet, and I don't think his PJs even got wet, just a tiny spot on his underwear, most in the toilet. I'm glad I didn't buy one of the more expensive models after seeing this seems to do the trick.
I thought the thing looked a bit uncomfortable, but no complaints. I make my life easier by layering his bed - so he has a waterproof sheet, then sheet, then another layer of waterproof sheet and sheet. So I just remove the top sheet and waterproof sheet when I need to without having to remake the bed. Having another blanket right nearby in case that gets wet is also a good idea. I told my son the first night he goes completely dry he will get a cookie with breakfast :-)

While it seems that this cord and system is uncomfortable, it is not. My son had no problem in wearing it.
The idea of the alarm system is not to wake the kid up to urinate, but to develop a connection between bladder sensation and idea to wakeup. That is the reason regular alarms, waking the kid up in the night will not work.
Thus, prepare to find wet bed for few days in the beginning, so purchase bedpads, several of them.
Do it when you can wakeup with the kid, I sleep next to him so it was easy to wake him up.
It should be associated with a reward, if not the kid will not have any incentive to wakeup, in their mind they should think that they have to wakeup if not they will not tune their minds for the alarm or bladder sensation, to wake up signal.
The reward should be a atleast a week of dryness not just everyday. If they are wet after 6 days, they time starts again, NO MERCY.
It might look silly, but I used to make my son pray before going to bed, asking God to help him stay dry ( this will help them tune their mind before bedtime that they got stay dry).
Don't let them drink too much liquids 2hours before bedtime (if they are thirsty, let them have a small sip) I make them drink lot of water at around 4.30 to 7pm then no water, go to bathroom before bedtime.
My son is 6yr old first day he was wet woke up with alarm, next day he workup with first drop, that all. He is now dry.
Wets sometimes when he is too tierd, but largely a success. Ask question, and I can answer.

Got it to work

My 5yr old daughter has developed some bed wetting issues that used to come and go. She potty trained right around her 2nd birthday, but never went to daycare so she rarely had to hold it (unless we were trying to make it to the next exit on a trip). Just one of many reasons I don't think she wets due to constipation.
She's always been an extremely heavy sleeper, but we recently bought a new house and she stopped taking naps which is when all of the bed wetting started to turn into a nightly routine.
We tried the whole go to the bathroom before bed thing and it was getting better. However when we started reminding her that late drinks would probably result in a wet bed, she started developing drink paranoia and would stop drinking. Ahh the dilemmas.
We scrapped all of it when I ordered this and it came in. I tested it as suggested with a wet finger and had her try it as well since she was a little scared of it. I showed her the little chart that came with it.
With all of that aside, here are my pros and cons after two nights of use:
Pros:
-loud alarm and vibration
-seems to be fairly sensitive when it does come in contact with moisture
-chart has stickers for every situation, dry, damp, and wet so that wetting isn't negative in the sense she won't get a sticker
-stays where you put it
Cons:
-still not enough to wake her up with the darn car alarm and vibrate setting (yet?)
-positioning of the sensor is a little awkward and can be unreliable if you have a kid who moves around as much as my daughter
-the entire unit seems to be too big for her and she's a lot taller than most five year olds
The first night was a fail since the sensor didn't come in contact with pee because she was laying on her back. So tonight we adjusted and it worked! The only thing that didn't work was it didn't actually wake her up. My husband still had to physically wake her. Maybe if we get a few more successful nights, the association will start to kick in and it'll start waking her up.
Update (few weeks later):
My husband decided to abandon the alarm for a while in favor of waking her up in the middle of the night. I convinced him that was just enabling the wetting to continue.
We've been using it for about a solid week again. The wetting has already slowed down. The first night she wet, it didn't wake her until it was already full blown. The night after, she woke up with only a small wet spot and was able to make it to the bathroom. The next night she didn't wet at all. I had her drinking more water throughout the day (I bought a drink dispenser and I've been filling it every day for the kids to have constant access to water) and, like I mentioned before, we've stopped talking about drinking in a negative manner. I think that's helping her to use the bathroom more during the day.

This is a MUST BUY for nighttime bedwetters

This product is amazing.
We had tried everything with our 5 year-old. Patience, lots of brands of undergarments, "letting him go" hoping it would stop, waking him up at night to go ... nothing worked. Of all my four kids, he's the only one who was a nighttime wetter since birth. I read about these alarms online and after some careful Amazon research, decided to go with this one.
THIS THING IS MAGIC.
My 5yo wore the Dry Easy for about a month, and as soon as he had several dry nights in a row without waking up at night (not quite a week), we stopped using it. He has not wet the bed since, about 5 weeks ago. He sleeps soundly through the night and wakes up dry. AMAZING. My husband and I joked privately that he will still be bedwetting in his college dorm, but wet sheets and pajamas (and tons of daily laundry!) are a thing of the past.
When we first showed it to him he loved the idea, much to my surprise. He didn't particularly like all the nighttime pants, but knew they were a necessary evil. The alarm made him feel more in control and like a "big kid." We showed him what was going to happen when/if he peed during the night and how the alarm would buzz. It was a good thing we had that chat because this alarm even on just vibrate is loud and powerful. He was annoyed he couldn't turn it off (had to come wake us up) but not scared.
This alarm is also great because it travels so well. It is so tiny it fits in a sandwich Ziploc bag with room to spare when traveling.
I cannot recommend this product enough. If you're tired of spending money on and running out of the nighttime pants, TRY THIS!!! From this "real mom," it really works.

Great tool (not magic bullet) for conquering bedwetting

We used this for my 9 yr old son and he has been accident free for over 4 months now. It is a great product - very sensitive moisture detection.
BUT if you think you can just buy this and clip it on your child and your problem will be solved, you are likely in for disappointment. This is only a tool (a critical one) to be used in a difficult and determined effort.
This is how we did it...
We waited until we knew we would have several weeks where we would be at home with him during the night. No sleeping away from home and no babysitters.
He sleeps in a bunk bed with his younger brother, so for the training period we moved his brother to another room, and then my spouse and I took turns sleeping in the bottom bunk. When we would hear the alarm go off, we would get him up immediately, talking to him and making sure he woke up as much as possible, and lead him to the bathroom.
The alarm is loud and vibrates, but it didn't wake him up. We had to do that part or this never would have worked.
We continued with this plan for around a month, until there were very few alarms and he was waking up by himself at night to go to the bathroom.
Then we had him continue to wear the alarm for a few more weeks, and we slept with a baby monitor that would allow us to hear the alarm going off. He had a few more alarms, but they were all just where a tiny bit of urine got out and he woke up by himself. Then we removed the alarm and he has been 100% accident free ever since!
We did experience one or two 'false alarms' from him sweating while he slept. Also, you have to be sure to have them change their underwear even if they have just a tiny accident, or else the monitor will sound again when you re-attach it.
Great product, but, like I said, it is a tool, not a magic bullet.
