This check valve does what says! Now will it last?

Removed the standard $12 clunking check valve and replaced it with this one. What can I say besides, "The old valve closed with a loud bang after every pump cycle and this one doesn't." In fact, I do not hear any sound being produced at all originating from the new valve. A few customers report strange gurgling noises and such following the install, however, I doubt the sound is coming from the actual valve. Presently, the only sounds coming from my sump pit are (1)the pump switching on and running (2)the sound of water spraying out of the 1/8" relief hole you drill to allow water to drain from the section of pvc pipe between the check valve and pump intake as per proper sump pump installation (3)a few air bubbles due to air displacing the water in pipe below the check valve. The valve itself is truly silent. The physics of every sumping situation is different, therefore, the associated sounds coming yours depends on things like the quality of your pump, restrictions in water flow (back pressure), how far water is being pumped before gravity takes over, quality of system + installation, etc...

I Gave this a 4-star review instead of 5 because of the packaging. The valve was in a thin bubble-wrap sleeve and placed in an oversized box sealed with very light-weight tape. Upon receipt, the box was coming open at both ends due to the valve being allowed to bounce around freely in the oversized box, the light tape job and the typical abusive package handling of carriers (UPS, DHL, USPS, etc.) No instructions come with this valve, but, a typical DIY person with a little common sense should have no problem figuring it out. The valve is designed to accept 1.5" pvc (cemented) at both ends. Rubber couplings will definitely work, but just note that the more connections you have, the higher potential for leaks you have as well. If you choose not to cement, be sure to measure the outside diameter of the fittings you want the rubber couplings to fit over be for buying the couplings.
Very highly recommended.

These are great! We had a slamming foot valve on our sump pump. Additionally, we have very sandy water coming in, so the valve collects sand over time. By switching to this valve, both of these problems are gone.

When the pump stops, the valve closes once, and there is no slam-slam-slam-slam going on for 30 seconds (especially annoying in the middle of the night). That alone is worth it.

The sand issue is fixed two ways. First, the valve area is clear, so I can see within a couple of seconds whether or not there is any accumulated sand in it. Second, by have threaded attachments at the top and bottom, I can easily remove it for cleaning in under 60 seconds. The valve portion just slides out, and you don't need to push the pipes apart to remove the valve like I used to have to do. I used to have to do this to see if there even was any sand present. But this is now history.

After installing one of these, I have upgraded all three valves to this.
Very quiet and I like the glued on fittings

The install was pretty easy and straight forward. I like that the ends can be glued on, instead of using hose clamps. I've had issues in the past with hose clamps loosening over time and causing a water fountain effect If I ever decide to change over to a different brand or style, it will be easy to just replace the some of the pvc pipe, so I'm not concerned with it being glued instead of rubber sleeves and hose clamps.
At first I didn't think it was any quieter than the check valve it replaced, but it definitely is. I think what I was hearing was the check valve on the ejector pump. Even when standing next to the sump pit, all I can hear is the pump. I also like that it's clear. so I can see what's going on inside the valve.

If it malfunctions or breaks down prematurely, I will update my review.
GET THIS ONE!

Very happy with this product!!! Have 3 places for a silent check value. Used to use a Lowe's silent check valve, but after a number of months, it would start to clunk again. So when I had to replace my Lowe's (of course) bought sub pump I replaced the check valve with this one. VERY please with this valve. QUIET, YES! I can also see how it is working and make sure that my sub pump it working too since it is covered with a radon cover. If you are going to get a silent check valve GET THIS ONE!!!

I didn't know why our two sump pumps in our crawl space were so darn loud. When they clicked on you could hear them pump water and when they finished moving the water, well, it was LOUD. It was kind of embarrassing when guests were over. One night I did a Google search on why my pump was so loud and it led me to noisy check valves and to this quiet check valve. I installed it and the change is great! The noise is quite tolerable now. You hear the pump click on, the water move, and then it just stops. I wish I found these a long time ago.
