Decent power and a good price.

I used this pressure washer to clean the moss and crud off and out of my brick paver porch, deck, and walkways. It was easy to assemble and get running. It was slow work which took days but the washer was adequate to the task. Of course a gas powered washer would be more powerful but also much more expensive to buy a good one. It blasted the moss and sand out of the cracks so I could replace it with Perma-sand. It cleaned the bricks off okay but again, took some time. I found that the reel for the sprayer hose was pointless and I didn't use it after I uncoiled the hose. I just made big loops and hung it from the handle with a releasable cable tie.The reel is so small that it makes too tight of coils in the hose and turns it into a spring! They could perhaps lower the price a few dollars by eliminating that useless contraption and the extra complication of the connections; just more to go wrong. Between the long electric cord and the spray hose it reaches fairly far. I bought a 15 foot 14/3 extension cord for some extra length. It didn't hurt it.
The sprayer trigger doesn't have a lock on it (probably for safety reasons), so I rigged one up using a
releasable cable tie (handy things). Your hand can get mighty tired squeezing that thing for a long time.
I bought a quick connect hose connector but had to modify it so it would screw into the unit's hose connector. I had to trim the unthreaded end portion of the quick connector off (Why make them that way? Dumb.) so the unit's hose coupler could grab enough threads to attach the quick-connect to the unit WITH THE SCREENED WASHER IN PLACE. That was the only "engineering" I had to do.
I fooled around with the soap dispenser bottle and nozzle but it doesn't seem to be something I would use that much. Perhaps I will try it on the car this summer... but cold water, which is all you can use in this washer, isn't much good for getting things really clean. It will work for getting the first coat of mud/dirt off, for sure. All in all for the price it has good power and seems to be well built. Don't forget to squeeze the trigger and get the water flowing through the unit after connecting the hose and turning on the water... BEFORE turning the pump on! Happy blasting!
Needs TEFC motor and would last a long time

These are OK for home use in dry climates but they have open frame motors that do not like wet environments, interesting in that they are being used in a wet environment. We use ours to wash oyster trays and equipment on our oyster farm in Southeast Alaska, Shikat Bay Oysters, where we get 150" of rain a year, although we take very good care to keep the washers under cover and dry the windings in the motor soak up moister after a while and die. What is the option? a $2000 unit with totally enclosed fan cooled motor that will probably die in a couple years anyway from just pumping salt water instead of fresh, so for the money and the abuse we give these units, $ for $, I guess we are money ahead. We do run fresh water through them after each use, have not had any problems with the pressure pump just the motors.
Torn: good points but also scary
BhamsterOctober 20, 2016
I'm a little torn about how to review this. As a 54-year-old woman, I was hoping I would be able to work it myself, but I find it very exhausting to use. (I have a chronic illness so that doesn't help.) My arms aren't strong enough to use the wand for very long. The orange tip really worked to clean our driveway, but it's got pinpoint precision--meaning it would have taken FOREVER to get the entire thing done. Ended up purchasing the cleaning disk--and then found it wasn't compatible with this machine. (Amazon needs to show that.) Emailed AR North America and they sent me an adapter which was nice of them. So then with the disk, let's just say it does the job but sends water EVERYWHERE. Very hard to maneuver with it unless you're going down a slope. What I had to do was use the disk on the flat portion of the driveway which sent dirty water everywhere. Then I had to switch to the wand with the green tip and coax the water down the driveway. It took forever and I'm sure I used a ton of water, but the driveway looks good.

Now here's the bad part (other than my fatigue using it): I had completely pulled out the hose--and that handle is so cheap and ready to break off that I don't even use it. I just turn the wheel itself while I pull the very stiff hose out. That's another thing: the hose is so stiff, you couldn't pull on it if you were a distance away from it: the entire machine will just fall over. So anyway, I had that hose pulled out all the way and put the green-tipped want on after having used the cleaning disk. When I turn the machine back on and pulled the trigger, I got about 5 seconds of normal spraying before the whole thing started shaking violently in my hand. I let go immediately, let the motor stop, and then tried again. Same thing. It shook so violently that I actually wondered if I was being electrocuted (after all, there was water all over the driveway at this time). The hose that was bunched up at my feet even shook violently against my leg--and it was actually painful against my leg. I was at the top of the driveway near the machine, so what I did was walk down towards the bottom of the driveway, pulling the cord straight, and then tried again, It still did the shaking but I persisted despite the scary shaking and it eventually stopped. (By the way, in all the cleaning I did, I had the motor at the minimum setting.)

I finished up rather quickly and when my husband came home told him that I was afraid to use the machine again. I wrote to the company to tell them what happened and ask their advice. Now they had been very nice and responsive about the cleaning disk not being compatible, but no one answered me on this shaking problem. I tried twice and got no reply. My husband had to go on a trip and then sustained an knee injury, so he hasn't been able to try it out except for a small patio in the back of our house. It worked fine for him then--but I had been using it a couple hours where he probably used it at most half an hour.

If I could, I'd probably send it back, but it would no doubt cost a fortune in shipping. I'm disappointed AR North America never got back to me.

A few other things: people are right that it makes you bend over too much. I'm only 5'5" and my back was killing me. The wand and the cleaning disk handle both could have been longer for comfort. Again, the hose handle feels like it will break off any minute. The plug is HUGE and there's no place to put it when you wind it up. There are some open spots in the back where a clever designer could have made them large enough to set the plug in, but no it just hangs awkwardly off the side. Directions are not at all clear on what to do with the different tips. (I had to write to AR for that info too.)

Attached is a photo showing the difference between using the orange tip (at the top) and the cleaning disk. Have to go back a forth a few times with the disk but it's much faster (but messier for clothes and shoes) than the wand.
Fantastic Pressure Washer!
MeariSeptember 21, 2016
I've been wanting a pressure washer for several years, and did not want to have to deal with a gasoline powered one. After reading all the reviews and questions posted, I decided to purchase the AR Blue Clean AR390SS. I'm happy to report so far I am not disappointed. The AR390SS was delivered packed inside another box. Features include: 30ft hose, 35ft cord with a GFCI plug, detergent tank, and 4 quick connect nozzles (soap, degree, 25 degree, and turbo), At the back, there are little "arms" to hold three nozzles. The turbo nozzle has it's own holder. The machine is compact and while it's a little hefty weight wise (about 35 lbs, I think), it's not difficult to move around on it's wheels.

I'm a woman who's 5'6" and in her upper 40's and it took me less than 10 minutes to assemble -- which involved attaching the spray gun holster (just slid down over a slot), the nozzle tray with one phillips-head screw, the stabilizer foot (another screw), and the garden hose adapter (which requires a 5/16" or 8mm hex wrench). Once the pressure hose is attached to the wand, and the garden hose attached to the front, it was time to see what the AR390SS could do!

From the ground, I used the 0 degree attachment to clean the outside of my gutters. What a difference! Then I used the soap nozzle to soap up the carpeting on my front and back steps/landings. The variable soap dispensing knob is located below the on/off knob at the front of the AR390SS. Since I've never used a pressure washer with a soap dispenser, I wasn't sure what setting to use. At the medium setting, it seemed to use up the soap relatively quickly. While letting the soap do it's "magic", I used the 25-degree nozzle to clean the windows. It did a fairly good job considering I only used water. Once the soap had soaked in, I switched to the turbo nozzle. Switching from one nozzle to another was fast and easy. The turbo nozzle did a great job of removing years of grime and crusted algae build up on the outdoor carpeting that covers my steps. Both areas look amazing!! I've included before and after photos of each area I cleaned with the nozzles mentioned.

In conclusion, so far I really like what the AR390SS has done. It fits my needs perfectly. I do not work for the company or am affiliated with them in any way. I'm just giving my honest opinion of the product after using it. I highly recommend it, though.
