Excellent bottles for storage

I was very thankful to find these glass baby bottles. We used plastic baby bottles for my son, but the fat in my breastmilk never would quite clean out of them, and they ended up discolored and dingy by about 6 months in. This time around, I decided to go with glass for my daughter. We use Lifefactory bottles, Lifefactory 4-Ounce BPA-Free Glass Baby Bottle with Protective Silicone Sleeve and Stage 1 Nipple, Pink, with Dr. Brown's Preemie Nipples, Dr. Brown's Original Nipple, Preemie (0m+),6 count, for feeding, but they are far too expensive to use for storage.

These Evenflo bottles are perfect for storage. I can pump directly into them (I use the Medela shields) if I so desire. There are half ounce markings on the side starting at 1oz up to 4 oz (also 25ml markings up to 125ml). I like to use solid storage caps, so I got B0006BAJNG Dr. Brown's Original Replacement Travel Caps, 3-Pack and they work perfectly. The packaging they came in was excellent. There was basically no chance that they could have broken in transit.

I have 3 sets of these (for a total of 18 bottles), and one has broken already. It had about an ounce and a half of milk in it and was in my thermal being transported from work to home. I couldn't see a reason why it broke and I haven't had any other issues, so I'm guessing it was simply a lemon.

Personally, I wouldn't use these for feeding directly from. There is no insulation from the temperature of the bottle (cold or hot), and the likelihood of it breaking if it was thrown is far too high for my comfort. I much prefer the bottles with silicone covers to be used for feeding (and I wasn't able to find a cover I was satisfied for a good price when I went looking.)

These are outstanding bottles for storage, and you can't beat the price. So far, 18 (17 now) bottles are just right to keep enough bottles around to store a couple of days worth of milk while still having bottles to pump into at work. If I end up needing more storage bottles, I will be coming back to these again!
Works with Dr. Browns after slight modification

I don't often write reviews but after having so much trouble I thought maybe someone else could benefit from my findings. We purchased these to use with Dr. Browns nipples and vent system since the Dr. Browns no longer come in glass in the narrow bottles. For various reasons we don't like plastic baby bottles. Our baby had trouble with nipple flow and would choke on every bottle/nipple combination we tried. The Dr. Browns premie flow nipple was too slow and collapsed during feeding. Our baby did best with the Dr. Browns Option standard size bottle but those only come in plastic. I think the vent system slowed the flow down and made our baby work a little harder, more like when nursing. I found that the end of the vent tube needed trimmed because the end rested on the Evenflo bottles bottom and wouldn't let air flow through it. All I did was cut a corner off the narrow end of the tube and filed it with a nail file so there weren't any jagged pieces that might come off. Took less than a minute. We use the Evenflo bottle and Dr. Browns nipple, nipple ring, and vent system. The Evenflo nipples and nipple rings leaked when used with the vent. So far we like these bottles since they are easier to clean and heat up faster than the plastic bottles.

Literally love these! We try to avoid plastic as much as possible, and these bottles are great. They warm up super fast too, which is awesome.
Yes: Dr. Brown's Guts Work

After reading another reviewer's comment that Dr. Brown's bottle insides work in these bottles, I took the plunge and bought 12 (and 12 Dr. Brown's bottles for their innards). They work perfectly, with no leakage (which is more than I can say for the Dr. Brown's Options bottles which leaked all the time). I spent ages scouring the interwebs trying to determine if this hack would work, when all along the answer was in a other reviewer's review...

In case you are new to the bottle shopping world, Dr. Brown's used to make a traditional glass bottle and while their website claims that they still do, it is apparent that they do not. I have two I recieved as handmedowns and they were my favorite bottles (shape and because of the minimal plastic parts that come into contact with the milk). To make this work, you need all the pieces from a Dr. Brown's bottle, except the bottle. The least expensive way to make this happen is to buy plastic bottles and discard (donate, recycle, etc.) the bottle portion. You must use Dr. Brown's traditional bottles, the Options innards won't work with the Evenflo bottle. Happy feeding!!

I've been using the bottles for my son for 3 weeks now with no difficulty. I initially used to pump into the bottles as well with my Medela pump - fits perfectly but became too heavy once I was producing enough milk to fill the bottles with a pumping session. I lost 1 bottle (luckily it was empty) when it shattered on the kitchen floor, although I've dropped multiple! Overall it's a great bottle if you're looking to lower the use of plastic. I love it.
