This product is ok as it said it can stick on any surface but it does not hold on my fireplace edges. Plus the corner cuts are less. If they would have given more curvery corners then actual strip that would have made easy to install everywhere.

The double sided tape is hard to place in a straight line on either side of the padded strip. But it doesn't stick once on their.
The tape/pad doesn't stick very well to my brick fireplace. Especially when rounding a corner. I found I had to cut it and put on in pieces for it to even stay on. But the long part of the fireplace is sticking so far (2 weeks in)
Corners are pre- taped. Which is GREAT! wish the strip was. Just putt off the backing ans place on furniture.
Overall does the job. 8 month old tries to chew this instead of brick so no chipped teeth or bring coming off and baby swallowing it. Corners work great to not bang baby's head or body while learning to crawl and stand.

Hi I'm really Happy with my product. I bought it to use on our TV stand so our 10 month old grandson doesn't get hurt and we are really impressed on how thick and how easy it is to use.

I bought this because I have a brick-mantle fireplace in my living room and two active toddlers who don't quite grasp the meaning of 'pointy'.

To start, the preparation was a lot of work. For an approximately eight-foot run of brick, I spent about two hours getting everything installed. However, a lot of that was me cleaning the brick in the hope that I would get good adhesion from the included tape. This was vital. Most of the rest came from checking and re-checking measurements. I found that it is better to leave it a little long and trim the end than to risk having it short; note that this material will stretch if you pull on it, so getting correct measurements can be tricky.

The instructions say to stretch out the roll for several hours before use, and that is also vital. You may want to stretch the tightly-coiled end for longer than that to get it to relax.

The material cuts easily with a utility knife, though cutting it straight tended to be more based in luck than skill. Use a new blade. Heavy-duty scissors might work, but I didn't try it.

The included pre-assembled corners were very nice and took out a lot of the guesswork, but they introduced different guesswork and complicate my measurements a bit. I probably would have had an easier time had I simply run the roll to the edge, cut it on an angle, and made my own corners, but on the balance, I'm glad that I used the pre-assembled ones.

Once stuck on, you won't have the opportunity to adjust. Be careful.

If your small child (or large child, pet, spouse) rips it up, it will stick back on without too much hassle, but there is a definite limit to the number of times that the adhesive will tolerate this. Be prepared to use your Stern Parent Voice. I got it to last about five months with two three-year-olds, and then I had plenty of adhesive left over to reattach the edge.

It has saved skulls a few times now, but I will caution that this is not a complete safety barrier. Hitting the head on this edge still *hurts*, and the flat surface remains unprotected. However, it has prevented a few cuts, concussions, and general scarring and blood loss, and I figure that when it detaches the second time, my children will either be old enough not to need it, or wary enough to avoid the mantle.

We have used these protectors for both a coffee table and for our stone hearth. Even with the uneven natural stone on the hearth, the adhesive kept the protector in place. Our first one started to come off about a year and a half into being used but was probably due to the surface not being cleaned thoroughly before being installed.

A couple of notes though. The adhesive doesn't come pre attached to the roll and can be tricky to get put on just right if you're using a longer piece, I had a section that was about 10 feet and it took some maneuvering to get it on. The corner pieces came off of the coffee table after a while but the strips stayed on very well. The adhesive that was left behind took some time to get scrubbed off but with a little Goo Gone, it wasn't the worst thing ever.

Overall, I'd recommend it to anyone no matter how handy you may or may not be.
