It's expensive but, has great features.

After having an Extang Tuff Tonneau on my old F150 I wanted something that was more user friendly. Any of the Truxedo covers fit this bill. The rear of the tonneaus latch back by the tailgate of the truck and the supports for the cover are attached to the cover. So, when you roll up this cover there are no cross bars to manually remove, it all comes up as one assembly.

As far as the ProX15 you are getting a super low profile design and a fabric cover rather than vinyl. The bottom side of the fabric is vinyl coated to repel water. I simply preferred the matte look of fabric compared to a super high gloss vinyl.

I have a couple of issues with this cover first of all the price. I ordered one of these and Amazon shipped a Truxedo Truxport cover for my truck by mistake. I did not realize this until I had unboxed it but, it gave me an opportunity to compare the two covers. What you are paying for with the ProX15 are the low profile rails and fabric top. All of the other features are identical. The Truxedo Truxport cover is about $300 for this application. Some rails with velcro attached at a different angle and a fabric top shouldn't justify a nealy $250 price difference. Also the pricing on these X15 covers jumps up and down by nearly $100 on Amazon so pay attention to the price that you pay. Finally, the rear edge of the cover isn't nearly as low of a profile as the sides of the cover. I'm not sure if that is unique to this application or a trait of the ProX15 cover.

The bottom line is: if you just want A cover you can find the same basic thing much cheaper. If you want a fabric cover rather than vinyl, this is your only real option.

Fits my ZR2 with sport bar!
Farinoh✓ Verified PurchaseJuly 17, 2023
I think that it is (ZR2 w/sport bar) the standard tonneau cover with an extra kit to accommodate the sport bar. I recommend reading the directions (c'mon men, sometimes ya just have to...we know the women will read it!) ?Read through thoroughly and you can see that the extra rubber strips are to make up the difference in the width of the sport bar. I was concerned because my sport bar had a gap of 1/4" on one side and 1/2" on the other between the vertical flange and the inner bed rail. So, I removed the sport bar and placed a horizontal jack between the rails to spread it apart to get it within 1/16" per side. Through trial and error, I discovered that I had to "overbend" about 4+" so when it relaxed, it was pretty tight. After installing the sealing tape as recommended, no leaks (96.8% leak free). I don't really know if that would have made a difference but if you HAVE to be sealed, you may want to consider it. Functionality is good. You do have to "pop" the end open before closing the tailgate or else the cover seal will be pinched between the tail gate and the cover and not seal properly. Rolling it up is a snap. Looks good on the truck as well but the drivers' side corner is up a little. I think that I can adjust it out. I filled out the warranty info as I've read it is REAL important for the warranty which says lifetime. We shall see if needed in the future but I logged it in at their site and saved the paperwork just in case! I know that I gave it 4 stars. Could have been 5 but it was a little pricey at $499! Maybe not too fair of me but there ya go. I will update if the need arises. Install date: 3/2019

Well made tonneau cover

So many choices when it comes to covering your truck bed. Hard top, soft top? Folding or roll up? Raised or flush? It depends what's important to you and how much you're willing to spend.

Personally, I wanted to be able to put stuff in my truck bed and not worry about people grabbing it when I'm parked somewhere. Which is pretty much the main reason anybody wants a tonneau cover, duh. But my other requirement was I wanted to have full access to the uncovered bed on demand without having to remove pieces and put them somewhere else as well as not blocking visibility. And that pretty much limits you to a rolling soft top.

A hard shell may hinge up but you have to take it off and leave it somewhere for full bed access. Folding tonneau covers will give you access to 2/3 or 3/4 of the bed but to get all of it you either need to take it off or flip it up so it blocks the rear window. But a rolling tonneau cover quickly rolls up and secures against the back of the cab without obstructing the view or the bed access.

But is it secure? You cannot access the latches without opening the tailgate so if your tailgate is locked then yes. But the velcro sides? This model has a preset tension that is tight enough that you'd have a very hard time trying to reach in from the sides, much less take anything out. But it's a fabric top, someone could just cut it? Yes they could, nothing's completely secure. Give me a minute with a good pry bar and that fancy hardshell cap is just as vulnerable. The key is it conceals the contents - nobody knows if there's anything in there and, if so, if it's worth the effort to steal. And then it takes extra effort to get in there, unusual effort that would stand out to passersby, and that's not worth the risk for an unknown payoff. It's a deterrent, and as a deterrent it works just as well as a much more expensive hard cap.

That said, what about this model specifically? I found the instructions pretty easy and the installation pretty simple with minimal tools needed and no drilling. For those concerned about watertightness, having properly followed the instructions I've been in a number of storms so far without a leak. It's easy to store and deploy. It does sit above the top edge of the truck bed but I'm fine with that - they have a "low profile" model that doesn't look like is worth the higher price for the minimal lower height while flush options are more cumbersome, expensive, and may be more prone to leaking.

My only complaint is how it lines up with the outside contour of the truck bed lip. The inside lip is perfectly rectangular and this cover follows that shape, perfectly rectangular. But the outside contour is wider near the cab (2016 Colorado) than near the tailgate so aesthetically it's a little odd. Also, the stake holes, which are meant to be used as handholds, end up halfway covered, looks strange. You can get some stake hole caps here to solve that, just put them in before you install the tonneau cover. And if you leave them open, they still work as handholds, though a tight fit.

Overall I've been satisfied with the purchase.
