Updated from original style

The reason for three stars is that the grip distance is larger than the original style and it's not as comfortable for people who have small hands. Other then that they work without any issues and should last at least another 10 years.
Excellent power for a small package

Excellent power for a small package. One of the handle cams inwards during cutting to multiply force so takes some getting used to, but overall a great product that is more wieldy than larger 2-handed loppers.
pruner

Cuts hard plant materials very well, but tends to hang up on softer materials. I have to manually reopen the pruners nearly every time. It needs a much stronger spring to operate on most plant materials.
I long for the old model of this pruner
Lew's Reviews✓ Verified Purchase•November 3, 2016
I had a pair of these pruners for three years and absolutely loved them, but after quite a bit of wear and tear and the feeling that they were not the same after a sharpening, I bought a new pair. The feel of these were different. I don't have large hands and the bars are much further apart then the prior pair I owned. Also, after doing a large amount of pruning, I noticed that the gears were slipping and had to be pulled apart with two hands. I wish they went back to the old model.
Using This is Twice the Work
Robert Kruger✓ Verified Purchase•August 23, 2016
The grip is nice, and it makes clean cuts, but it doesn't open up on its own. I have to hook one finger on the inside of the grip to push the jaws open every time. That means using this is twice as much work as necessary, and my hand gets tired twice as fast as it should. I tried spraying it with WD-40, but it didn't help. I'm shopping for a better pruner.
