VERY NICELY MADE WOULD BUY AGAIN
Feature packed multimeter at a great price! Voltage Reference Update!
RC•March 12, 2017
I just received the TP8268 yesterday. So far, so good. This meter has a lot of features at a great price point, and appears to be a solid device.
I thought there was an issue with the Backlight, as I thought the backlight toggled on & off with the press of the backlight button, but that isn't the case. In addition, the backlight wouldn't shut off unless I turned the meter off. I emailed Electronix and got an immediate response. The button turns on the backlight but is not supposed to turn it off. It's supposed to shut off after a short period of time. I was asked to remove & reinstall the battery. That reset the backlight auto shut off and it's working fine. Excellent customer support from Electronix!
I'm getting a multi voltage reference module shortly, and will see how accurate this meter is. But it appears to be right on compared with another meter I have. At +-.5% DC voltage tolerance, this is a nice deal @$25.
I'll update as necessary.
3/25/17 Sat. Update:
TP8268 Meter compared to Voltage reference (AD584 LH) received today, assuming the voltage reference is accurate, I observed the following measurements.
1st column = Voltage
2nd column = measured V reference from the manufacturer
3rd column = TP8268 voltage measurements with ±% accuracy.
The allowed accuracy from the Tekpower website for the TP8268 DC Voltage is ±0.5%
Voltage Reference:
2.5V - 2.49846 - 2.498 = ±0.00%
5.00V - 5.00200 - 5.00 = ±0.00%
7.500V - 7.49795 - 7.49 = ±0.00%
10.00v - 10.00105 - 9.99 = -0.1%, *possibly ±0% if the meter/voltage reference was given time to settle.
Given the capacity of the meter, the TP8268 is a great value @$25 in regards to the voltage accuracy, which across the board is ±0.00%*
Amazing!

With the money.

I've only used to check a few 110 plugs before replacing them but meter seems to be solid. It does have a pretty cool feature to assist in finding wires in the wall. Because my use is limited its hard to rate 5 stars but does exactly what I want so it's hard not to rate 5 stars.
Looks good for this price.

Recent purchase. Have used all settings except hFE adapter. Durable case. Seems accurate so far. Amazed at the sensitivity of the NCV - able to locate wiring behind sheetrock.
